Avis Berg Keller passed away and found peace after a valiant fight with Alzheimer’s disease on November 8, 2019, at the age of 85. A Celebration of the life of Avis Keller will be held on Monday, November 11, 2019, at 2:00 p.m. at the Cando Lutheran Church of Cando, ND, where Avis was baptized and confirmed, with Pastor Deborah Stave officiating. Interment will be private. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church on Monday. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the Towner County Medical Center Auxiliary.
Avis was born June 5, 1934, in Cando, to Edwin and Laura (Wagenman) Westlind and will be forever remembered by her husband and best friend of 19 years, Bob Keller, with whom she enjoyed winters in South Texas, traveling, many rounds of golf and lots of fun.
After graduating from UND, Avis spent more than 40 years as a kind and devoted registered nurse, spending many of those years at the Towner County Medical Center and the Living Center in Cando. Avis belonged to the Order of the Eastern Star Cando Chapter #29 and the Hospital Auxiliary.
Avis will be remembered as a loving mom and grandmother by her children from her marriage of 44 years to (the late) Knute Berg, Jr.; (the late) Lance (Lynda) Berg, Kandice (the late Robe) Belgau, Joni (Mike) Malpede and Jan Berg. She will be lovingly remembered by her grandchildren Jennessa (Saqib) Berg Tabba, Ian (Kenny) Berg, Lyndsay (Chris) Wilkerson, Brian Malpede and Kevin Malpede and great-grandson, Aiden Wilkerson. Avis will be fondly remembered by her brother, Dennis (Jayne) Westlind, and sister, Jill (Bob) Dwyer, and many cousins, nieces and nephews.
Avis enjoyed spending time with Bob’s children, Ross (Paula) Keller, Scott (Tracie) Keller, Roberta (Jeff) Kramer, Frank (Vicky) Keller and Jack (Lynn) Keller, his 11 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren.
The family would like to acknowledge the wonderful care and extraordinary kindness and compassion shown by the staff at the Towner County Living Center; their presence was a blessing and a comfort for Avis and her family.
