It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Mildred Hodgson on Friday June 22, 2018 at Salem Personal Care Home in Winkler, MB. Mildred passed away with her family by her side. She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother.
She was a kind-hearted woman born in the east Selkirk district on February 8, 1929, the daughter of Gordon and Myrtle Burnett. Mildred grew up on the farm there and after her education, she ventured to the little town of Mowbray, MB to teach school. This is when Mildred met the love of her life, George Hodgson. It was not long before they were inseparable. They married April 10, 1947 at the All Saints Anglican Church in Winnipeg and shortly after, they returned to the family farm three miles south of Kaleida. They ran a successful farm until they retired in 1979. Upon retirement, George and Mildred spent 21 years of winter months in southern Texas where they made many friends. Upon leaving the farm, they moved to Manitou and then to Morden. Mildred had many hobbies and interests including gardening, travelling, shopping and their cabin at Pelican Lake.
She was predeceased by her husband, George in 2011, her parents, Gordon and Myrtle Burnett, her sisters, Eileen Tarrant (Johnny), Audrey Marr (Dave), brother-in-law, Ronald (Linda), Russell, sisters-in-law, Mildred (Lloyd), Ruth (Bill) as well as sons-in-law, Ervin Enns and Garry Kestirke.
