Abe was the second of 4 children born to Abraham H. and Elizabeth Friesen (nee Janzen)on February 3, 1932.
As a young man, until his marriage, he farmed with his father north of Plum Coulee. Abe and Dora met at Gimli Bible Camp when they were in their teens and were married on September 8, 1957. They started their married life farming in the Plum Coulee area in the summer and spent the next six winters working at Eaton’s in Winnipeg. They continued farming and moved to Winkler in 1987. Throughout his farming career Abe served on numerous boards including Manitoba Sugar Beet Assoc., Pool Elevators, School Trustee, Church Boy’s League, various committees and as a regular usher at church.
Retirement included many trips to the southern states where they enjoyed travelling, golfing, playing pool, shuffleboard and making many friends. In 2017 Abe and Dora moved into the Buhler Active Living Centre where he continued to enjoy floor curling and coffee times with his many friends.
Things took a turn a few years ago when Abe had a fall at home and from there spent time at Boundary Trails Hospital, Manitou Care Home and then Salem Home in Winkler.
The family would like to thank all the caregivers at these facilities for their excellent care and support.
