Alvin Jacob Dyck
1957 ~ 2023
On Sunday May 14, 2023, Alvin Dyck, 66 of Winkler, MB was taken home by Jesus after a short battle with cancer. He had been at Boundary Trails Health Centre for four weeks.
Alvin was born January 20, 1957 to Peter and Mary Dyck. He grew up just outside the village of Schoenweise along with his brother, Art and sister, Barb. In 1983, Alvin married the love of his life, Mary Nikkel and they recently celebrated their 40th anniversary. Their marriage was blessed with son, Edward and daughter, Stephanie. After they were married, Alvin and Mary attended the Winkler Mennonite Church and Alvin was baptized on June 4, 2006. He worked at various jobs and spent 13 years at Tupperware in the maintenance department. Then he worked for over nine years at Friesteel Products where he spent five years travelling all over the world to set up machines. He travelled to Mexico, Norway, Germany, Switzerland, Nigeria and Syria to name just a few places. He was always so happy to come back home. He spent the last 18 years at Pembina Valley Canvas as a welding supervisor. Alvin loved the outdoors, fishing, hunting and golfing. In the more recent years, he enjoyed six houseboat vacations in Lake of the Woods.
Alvin had a generous heart. He was kind. Always had a smile on his face and he had a wonderful sense of humor. His friends were very important to him. He adored his family and was not shy about saying, “I love you.” All who knew Alvin will miss him dearly. He truly was one of a kind.
He leaves behind his wife, Mary and son, Edward (Amanda), his in-laws and many nieces, nephews and friends. He was predeceased by his parents, sister, Barb in 1981, daughter, stephanie in 2009 and brother, Art in 2010.
Thank you for all the staff at Boundary Trails Health Centre for their compassionate care during Alvin’s stay in the hospital.
