Alvin is lovingly remembered by his wife, Doreen of 67 years, daughter-in-law Val, son Dale, daughter Roxana(Alf), 10 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren, 1 great great granddaughter, as well as his sisters; Viola, Eva, and Irene.
Alvin was born on February 6, 1932. He lived most of his life in Greenfarm, where he met and married his wife Doreen. After many years in Greenfarm they moved to Winkler. He made his most important decision of his life when he accepted Jesus as his Saviour.
In Alvin’s lifetime, he worked at various jobs; an “uht o beida” (farmhand), electrician, carpenter, groundsman for Manitoba Hydro, farmer, and grader operator for the town of Winkler. He had no university degree or job of high position, but he did his best and sometimes failed just like the rest of us.
His pride was in doing his job well - mowing his yard to near perfection, building their house, grading and clearing the streets of Winkler. Many comments have been made of how he took the time to make sure the residents’ driveways were cleared by the road of snow. He was very self-sufficient, not easily asking for help from others.
Alvin enjoyed bowling and golfing in his retirement. He enjoyed golfing with his brother Bill and his friend Henry Hamm. He and mom had fun floor curling for many years.
Because of his dementia he needed to move to Tabor Home in June 2024. We are very thankful for all the staff who helped and showed kindness to him.
The last few years dad longed to go to a home that was no longer there. He is now home with Jesus and waiting for all of us to join him there.
Our family would like to thank Pastor Vic and Pastor Dean, our church family, and many others who have supported us through your prayers and kindness
