Amanda Lee Hunt
November 18, 1993 ~ November 26, 2022
It is with heavy hearts and great sadness we announce the passing of our dearest Panda far too soon.
Amanda was born on November 18, 1993, to Kathy Hunt and Lorne Hunt in Brandon MB. She lived in Gladstone, MB before moving to Morden, MB with her mom and sisters at the age of 7. Here she completed high school before heading off to university. Amanda was baptized on confession of her faith in the Sommerfeld church on May 13, 2013.
Growing up Amanda loved when everyone would get together for family gatherings and summer camping trips in Spruce Woods, which were always highlighted by vivid play with all of her cousins who she maintained close relationships with. As well, Amanda had an extensive group of playmates as it was second nature for her to make everyone feel welcome and included. Her nurturing spirit was accentuated with the addition of a playhouse in the backyard built by her dad. She and her sisters spent many hours mixing mudpies and tossing grass salads.
Amanda never lost her sense of curiosity and adventure. Because of this she explored many interests, but always remained steadfast in her passions for the culinary sphere and the natural world. Taste-testing at least one bite from every dish at family gatherings, exchanging recipes, preserving the fruits and vegetables she helped grow in the garden, experimenting with cultural dishes, and inviting loved ones over so they could watch her craft three course meals through a tornado of mess and an endless stream of conversation. She worked in many restaurants over the years and dreamed of opening her own with her close friend Edelma. In between whizzing around the kitchen, her faithful companion Nina accompanied her on many adventures to explore nature, and watch the natural interactions between flora and fauna. She was very interested in herbalism and would gather native plants to study and make healing concoctions and Oshibana (dried botanical art) with. She loved to share these creations and her knowledge with her family, friends, and anyone who she felt could benefit.
Amanda shared a very sweet bond with her niece, Hex Ivy. Whether it was spoiling her with special meals and sharing snacks, painting her nails or spinning her in unending circles, she always provided her with a sense of validation. As a result of Amanda’s childlike nature she could always get down to her level and through this they bonded considerably through play. While her immediate absence will leave a hole in Hex’s heart, we believe Amanda will continue to dance for Hex through the winking of the stars.
Amanda was a beautifully complex person and was never too shy to share the whimsical, kind and generous parts of herself with the people around her. She had a sparkling essence with a laugh to match and was much too busy living in the moments to capture them.
It is so difficult to express in words how much she meant to us and how dim our world feels now without her. You did so good in the life you were presented with and we are so proud of everything that you were. Bet the moon looks beautiful from up there. You are so loved, Amanda.
Amanda will be tenderly remembered by her mom Kathy, dad Lorne, sisters Kayla (James) and Taiylor, Niece Hex Ivy and beloved soul dog Nina. Grandma Anne Wiebe; Aunt Barb (Kevin) cousins Megan (Tyson) children Briar and Asher, Ashley (Jadynn) and Shelby; Aunt Peg (Dwayne) cousins Fanaye and Mintae; Aunt Jean (Kenny) cousins Tyson and Bailey; Aunt Shirl (Tyson) cousins Hailey and Brett; as well as a small group of true friends who she considered family. She will be reunited with her Grandpa Menno Wiebe, Grandparents Doug, and Anne Hunt.
We would like to thank the emergency medical services, the staff at BTHC, and the medical examiner for their compassion and advocacy. Along with the many acts of kindness, words of encouragement, cards, flowers, visits, and food. In addition, we would like to thank Wiebe Funeral Home for guiding us through the process of laying Amanda to rest.
