Amber Faithe Peters
December 4, 1997 – June 8, 2023
Amber Faithe Peters came into this world uniquely created; a heart full of courage, strength, feisty and fierce; ready to take on the challenge of life. Determined to make the most out of every day she was give, Amber loved endlessly, brought joy and sunshine to everyone around her. Amber’s fighting spirit was evident throughout the numerous surgeries she endured her first thirteen years of life.
At five years old, Amber began her education at Minnewasta School in Morden. She developed lifelong friendships with students, EA’s and teachers. Everyone looked forward to her bright smile, infectious laughter, cheerful greeting and sharing in her jokes and sassiness. Amber thoroughly enjoyed school but always looked forward to the weekend. Friday was her favorite day of the week.
Amber spent many weekends during her growing up years with her Grandpa and Grandma Peters as well as with her Granma Thiessen. Her brothers were a special joy and she loved them dearly. They spent many hours around the campfire, walking with her or just hanging out and having fun together. One of her greatest accomplishments and proudest moments was when she graduated from Morden Collegiate in 2016. She celebrated with sparkly jewelry, having her hair and nails done, make up and a special gown that she handpicked. She chose this gown for this occasion because she wanted to be a princess. A beautiful princess she is!
After completing school, she found a place with Gateway. Amber loved going to work everyday and learning life skills and recycling but her favorite thing to do was sorting beans and socializing. She continued to thrive in her new environment by creating new friendships with both participants and staff. Through Gateway, Amber discovered more independence and made the decision to move into a residential home. She absolutely loved her home, her housemates and was so grateful for her staff and manager.
On June 8th, as Amber was preparing to go home, she was involved in an accident. She was taken to Boundary Trails Health Centre and transferred to Health Sciences Centre where she passed away peacefully surrounded by her family. Amber will be deeply and forever missed. She leaves a huge void in those who knew her and shared in her life.
Amber is survived by her mom, Tina Thiessen, her dad, Abe Peters, four brothers, Dwight, Aron, Brendan and Bradley, grandmother, Maria Thiessen, grandparents, Bill and Anita Peters and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins. She was predeceased by her grandfather, Diedrich Thiessen.
Thank you to the many people in her life that made Amber feel special and loved. There are too many to mention but there was a special place in Amber’s heart for each one. Special thank you to all those who attended at the scene, the staff at BTHC and also the ER staff at HSC.
