With sorrow, but with deep gratitude and peace, the family of Anne Bergen announces her passing on August 6, 2025.
Anne (Mom) devoted her life to loving and serving Jesus Christ, her family, and everyone who had the privilege of knowing her. She was born to Bernard & Ann Neufeld on September 5, 1929, in Mulligar, Saskatchewan, the 5th of eight children. Mom was a young woman when she met the love of her life our Dad, Abe Bergen, and often recounted the joy of their first connection, enchanted by his handsome smile and twinkle-eyed charm. They married on October 13, 1949, settling in Morden Manitoba, where they built a warm and welcoming home.
Mom was the heart of our family. She delighted in sharing stories of each of her children’s birth, detailing the experience and how she felt every time a new baby arrived. Mom and Dad raised eight children of their own and fostered many others over the years. When her grandchildren began to arrive her joy was complete. She loved being Grandma Bergen to each one of them! Her love of babies was matched only by her love of hospitality. She welcomed friends and strangers alike, cooking and baking with generosity, and filling her home with warmth and grace.
Mom cherished simple pleasures – daily walks, gardening, canning, and summers at Manhattan Beach Church Camp, which are now treasured memories.
Mom stayed home with her children until her youngest began school, then joined the housekeeping staff at Morden Hospital, where she served with integrity and compassion. While her duties were humble, her mission was sacred: she quietly offered prayer, comfort, and spiritual support to those in need.
Together with Dad, she opened their home to many facing hardship, mental illness, or addiction, showing through her life how faith is most powerful when it’s lived.
Mom’s love for Jesus was the cornerstone of her existence. She asked Him into her heart soon after marrying Dad, and from that moment on, faith guided her every step. Her relationship with God was steadfast and sustaining, carrying her through both joys and heartbreak. To her children and our families, her unconditional love was the clearest reflection of God’s love they could ever know. Her legacy of faith lives on in each one of us.
Mom is lovingly remembered by her children: Dianne (John), Kelvin (Eileen), Rebecca (Randy), Candice (Michael), and Kenton (Angie); her 17 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and her sister, Grace Jorgenson.
Mom was predeceased by her husband Abe and daughters Darlene, Brenda, and Kim. We rejoice knowing Mom is reunited in heaven with Dad and our three sisters, free from pain and full of joy.
For the past six years, Mom lived at Tabor Home, where she received tender and compassionate care. We are deeply thankful to every staff member who treated her with love, dignity, and kindness.
Mom spent her final weeks with quiet strength. She died as she lived - peacefully, faithfully, and full of grace.
Mom’s deepest wish was that everyone she loved would come to know Jesus and the fullness of life He brings. Her life was a living testimony of that truth.
We miss her dearly, but we hold onto hope - we will see our Mom and Grandma again!
