Irene Klassen passed away peacefully at Boundary Trails Health Centre on November 30, 2025.


Irene Clara Giesbrecht was born July 17, 1935, to David and Justina Giesbrecht. She grew up in Schoenwiese, MB. The family moved to Winnipeg in 1947 and attended school there.


On October 24, 1954, she married Herman “Herb” Klassen. They had four children – Gordon, Wayne, Darrell and Marlene.


Irene was always a hard worker and performed well for all her employers throughout the years.


Irene was very proud of her grandchildren, Christopher, Riley and Jodi and loved telling stories of when they were growing up.


Irene is survived by her sons, Wayne and Darrell (Jo Behr). Grandchildren – Christopher, Riley (Carly), Jodi (Kristjan). Great-Grandchildren – Aria, Asher, Fynn, Rowan. Sisters, Hilda and Vera, daughter-in-law Nadine Klassen, son-in-law Mike (Carmen) Polson.


Irene was predeceased by her husband, Herb, and her children, Gordon and Marlene.


Irene will be missed by her friends at Garden Park Estates.


Public viewing will be on Friday, December 19, 2025, from 2 - 6 pm at Wiebe Funeral Home in Winkler. Funeral will take place on December 20, 2025, at 11:00 AM at Wiebe Funeral Chapel in Morden.

Mae Lyle
December 15, 1934 – November 29, 2025


Mae Lyle passed away peacefully on Saturday, November 29, after a long and full life. Born on December 15, 1934, in Winnipeg to Alma and Norman Brown, Mae was the third of five children. She grew up on the family farm near Union Point, attending school there and forming the strong work ethic and warm spirit that would stay with her throughout her life.


Following graduation, Mae moved to Winnipeg to attend Success College, where she trained as a secretary. While in college, she met the love of her life, Bruce, at a social event. Their connection was immediate, and they married on March 3, 1956, beginning a partnership built on deep affection, shared values, and an abiding sense of adventure.


In 1962, Mae and Bruce settled in Winnipeg, building a home on Danbury Bay. It was during these years that Mae discovered her passion for antique furniture. Nothing delighted her more than finding a worn, neglected “treasure,” and with patience and skill, restoring it to beauty. By the time she finished refinishing a piece, the transformation was remarkable—her craftsmanship and eye for detail were second to none.


In 1976, the family moved to Carman for Bruce’s work. They built a home on the west end of town, and just five years later, realized their dream of building a country home a few miles northeast of Carman. The house and surrounding garden became Mae’s pride and joy. She had an extraordinary talent for home décor, seamlessly incorporating her beloved antiques. Her gardens were always vibrant, filled with colour and life. She loved planting, weeding, and harvesting, and Bruce happily moved perennials as often as her imagination demanded.


While living on the farm, Mae and Bruce began selling pies and preserves at the local Farmers Market. At times they baked up to 80 pies in a single stretch—an impressive testament to their commitment and teamwork. They were social by nature and enjoyed many activities together, especially square dancing and bridge. Mae was also active in Eastern Star and dedicated much of her time to volunteer work, particularly after her retirement from Boyne Lodge, where she had worked as an activity worker.
Mae loved to entertain and was a wonderful cook. She and Bruce welcomed many friends and relatives to the farm over the years, filling their home with laughter, food, and warmth.


Bruce’s sudden passing 21 years ago, at the age of 70, was a devastating loss. Mae’s heart was broken, and life changed profoundly. Unable to stay on the farm alone, she sold it and moved to a condo in Carman. She continued to see friends and family and remained part of a lunch group, but many of the activities that once brought her joy gradually faded from her life.


Mae is survived by her sisters, Norma Scott and Edna Dreger; her sons Dale (Rhonda) and grandchildren Benjamin and Travis (Elise); Edwin (late wife Mary-Anne) and Kevin (Tayne); grandchildren Foster (Ainsley), Delaney (Matthew) and great-grandchildren Huxley, Roux, and Tali; and Shea (Danielle), Redford (Laney), and Cullen. She is also remembered by many nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends.


Mom, you lived a full and beautiful life. You were loved deeply, and you will be missed always.

John D. Reimer, 68, of Walhalla, ND, passed away Saturday, November 29, 2025, at the Pembina County Memorial Hospital in Cavalier, ND. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, December 4, 2025 at 11:00 a.m. at the St. Boniface Catholic Church in Walhalla, ND. Visitation will be held at the church for one hour before the time of services.

John D. Reimer was born January 17, 1957, at Langdon, ND to Peter and Gertrude (Dreidger) Reimer. He attended school at Walhalla and graduated from Walhalla High School. John then served in the U.S. Air Force and the North Dakota National Guard. After his honorable discharge from the service, he worked for Laverne Verville on his farm and at the Yamaha dealership in Walhalla. John also worked for Clark Farms, Stremick Farms, the International Boundary Commission, and Simplot. John was also very active in the Knights of Columbus and American Legion in Walhalla.

He loved camping, cooking, and grilling, and spending time with his family. During the annual Corn and Apple Festival in Morden, Manitoba, he was able to spend time with his Canadian family, which he enjoyed.

On August 12, 1978, he married Carolyn Dearinger at St. Boniface Catholic Church in Walhalla. He is survived by his wife, Carolyn, children: David Reimer, Walhalla, ND, John P. (Heather) Reimer, West Fargo, ND, Michael Reimer, Walhalla, ND, Natasha Reimer (fiancé, Wyatt Knoke), Salt Lake City, UT, Ethan Reimer, Grafton, ND, Preston Reimer, Walhalla, ND, Max (Natoshia) Reimer, Bismarck, ND, grandchildren; Hunter (Kinsey), Noah, and Emily. Also surviving are his siblings; Bill (Rhonda) Reimer, Margaret Gadaire, Eva Riendeau, Mark (Patti) Reimer, Harold (Lori) Reimer; his mother-in-law, Doris Dearinger; and siblings-in-law: Myrna Styles, Richard (Rose) Dearinger, Rodney (Gina) Dearinger, and Lorna (Stacy) Hiebert.

Preceding him in death were his parents: Peter Reimer, Gertrude Reimer, stepmother, Ruth Reimer, and father-in-law, Alvin Dearinger.

Mark Alton Thorson, age 37 of Edinburg, ND passed away on Saturday, November 29, 2025 at his home due to a tragic accident.

Mark was born March 21, 1988, in Grafton, ND, the son of Lowell and Linda (Schaefer) Thorson. He graduated from Edinburg High School and Minnesota State Community and Technical College, Wadena, MN. He was united in marriage to Jenna Wensloff on January 8, 2023. The couple moved their family to the family farm in Edinburg. He was a lineman for several electrical contracting companies. For the last 13 years he worked for Minnkota Power Cooperative of Grand Forks.

Although he very much enjoyed being a lineman and farming, his life’s passion was his family and his faith. Mark was well-known to be an avid hunter and outdoorsman. To those who knew him, he was a trusted and loyal friend. He was a member of Grace Free Lutheran Church, Edinburg, ND and the Edinburg Fire Department.

He was deeply loved, and will be missed by his wife, Jenna, stepson Jackson Arthur Briese, son Nash Lowell Thorson and a child due to be born in July 2026; parents Lowell and Linda Thorson, brother James Lowell (Hannah) Thorson, grandmother, Carolyn Olson, mothers and fathers-in-law: Clark and Kaydell Majer, Brian and Wanda Wensloff and several aunts, uncles, nephews and sisters and brothers-in-law. He was preceded in death by his paternal and maternal grandparents.

Funeral services will be Friday, December 5, 2025 at 11:00 A.M. at the Grace Free Lutheran Church, Edinburg, ND. Visitation will be for one hour prior to the service at the church on Friday. Interment will be at the Odalen Lutheran Cemetery, rural Edinburg, ND. The funeral will be livestreamed on Tollefson Funeral Home website. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to the Edinburg Fire Department and the Park River Pregnancy Help Center.

Poirier, Norma Joan (Dubois)
March 16, 1939 – November 28, 2025


It is with profound sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Norma Poirier on November 28, 2025, in Winnipeg following a courageous battle with neuroendocrine cancer.


Norma is predeceased by her beloved husband, Richard in 2007.


She is survived and deeply missed by her devoted children, Lawrence (Lorie) and Pat (Bob); and her cherished grandchildren: Denise (BJ), Donald, Wesley, Melissa (Derek), Emily, Leslie (Jason), Shannon, and Robyn (Craig). She was a proud grandmother to great-grandchildren: Sophia, Alycia, Jenessa, Brennen, Taegan, Sean, Cullen, Tyson, Shane, Cooper, and Molly. She is also survived by and deeply missed by her brother Carl. Also brother- in- law Don (Doreen), sister- in- law Millie, extended family and many good friends.


Norma was known for her strong work ethic and her ability to excel at everything she set her mind to. In 1963, she and Richard purchased their home in Winnipeg, where they raised their two children and nurtured lifelong friendships with neighbours. She spent many fulfilling years working at ARC Industries and Boeing before her retirement.


Following their early retirements, Norma and Richard enjoyed many trips to British Columbia to visit family. They also spent countless memorable years creating a cherished "home away from home" at their seasonal campsite at Millers Campground.


Norma’s dedication extended to her hobbies, most notably her spectacular garden. Norma was famous throughout the neighbourhood for her exceptional tomatoes, which she happily shared. Her vegetable gardens and flowers were known for growing lusher than anywhere else. Though her cooking was simple, it was enjoyed by many, with her matrimonial cake being a family favorite.


An avid reader, Norma loved everything from Maeve Binchy to John Grisham, leaving behind an extensive library of around 1000 books to be read. Though quiet by nature, she possessed a wicked sense of humor and a memorable, contagious laugh. She enjoyed sharing a glass of wine with her daughter Pat, and martinis with friends Bob and Darlene and others that would just drop in for a visit, her door was always open. A talented craftswoman, she loved to knit and crochet, gifting countless pieces to family members that will be forever cherished. She leaves behind almost as much wool, as she does books.


While some might have teased Norma for being frugal, she was always generous with her family and friends. She was an extraordinary mom, wife, sister, grandma, great-grandma, and friend, and her presence will be missed more than words can express.


The family would like to thank all the staff at the Grace Hospice for their kindness and compassion during a very hard time. We are forever grateful for all your hard work and dedication.
As per Norma’s wishes, there will be no service. Interment will take place in the spring at the Elm Creek Cemetery next to her husband Richard in a private ceremony.

Norma Jean Storie, 92, of Cavalier, ND, passed away Thursday, November 27, 2025, at Wedgewood Manor, Cavalier, North Dakota. Funeral service will be held Saturday, December 13, 2025, at 1:00 p.m. at the Askew Funeral Home, Cavalier, ND. Visitation will be held for one hour before the time of the service at the Askew Funeral Home.

Norma was born November 18, 1933, in Kansas City, Missouri to Charles and Florence (Whitfill) Green. On May 14, 1950, Norma married Herbert Storie in Kansas City, MO. After their marriage, Herb’s employment enabled them to live in several states including New Mexico, Kwajalein Island and North Carolina. In 1972 the family moved to North Dakota and in 1979 to Naperville, Illinois. Upon retirement in 1987 Norma and Herb returned to North Dakota and lived in Hensel, ND.

She is survived by her children: Ron (Anita) Storie, Cavalier, ND; Colleen (Tom) Tuma, Orangeville, IL; and Charles (Karin) Storie of Sachsenheim, Germany; grandchildren: James (Tatiana) Storie, Grand Forks, ND; and Brian (Viktoriia) Storie, West Fargo, ND; great-granddaughters: Lilly Anne Storie, Grand Forks, ND; Sophie Katrina, Marie Julianna, and Valeria Maya Storie, all of West Fargo, ND; and brother-in-law, Robert Bulman, Wichita, KS.

Norma was preceded in death by her husband, Herb, parents, and several brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law.

Mark Wasylow, age 55 of Pisek, ND passed away Wednesday, November 26, 2025 in Mayville, ND.
Mark was born to William and Margery (Thompson) Wasylow on March 28, 1970 in Grand Forks, ND; the youngest of 11 children. He grew up on a dairy farm just outside of Mekinock, ND. Growing up with 10 brothers and sisters and being the baby of the group, he helped with the milking and the farm work, going along the river hunting, trapping, and getting into “trouble”, but he also helped his mom cook, can vegetables, and whatever she needed help with. He was a very good cook.
He attended Midway Public School in rural Inkster, ND. Even though he didn’t graduate from Midway, he went and got his GED from the Vo-Tech in Grafton, ND in 1 day.
After that he had many jobs including Lone Wolf Farms in Minto, ND, 32nd Ave Simplot in Grand Forks, ND, custom combining for Altendorf’s Harvesting; all while still helping his dad on the dairy farm and with the farming.
He met Stacey (Knudson) in August of 1993 in the “big” town of Forest River, ND as she was a wedding crasher of his best friend’s wedding. They then married in April of 1996 and their 1st son Wyatt was born in December of 1997. The apple of his eye, Wyatt wanted to do and be just like his dad. 2 ½ years later, he was blessed with twins Olivia and Ogden, he was overjoyed.
He worked at Schanilec Farms of Minto for over 28 years. Just living a mile away from work, the kids loved it because they would ride truck and combine with dad, bring lunch to dad, and help dad if they could. He loved to teach all his kids about the world, helping them understand their place in it and how to navigate its challenges. There wasn’t a place Mark would go that he didn’t know someone; or he would strike up a conversation with anyone about anything. He had the “gift of gab.”
Mark is survived by his wife Stacey; sons Wyatt (Alyx) and Ogden; daughter Olivia (Tucker) Salander; grandchildren Harper Salander and Ryatt Wasylow; siblings: Mary (Richard) Carlson, Mekinock, ND, Kathy (Jim) Weber, Hartford, WI, James (Lila) Wasylow, Arco, ID, David (Kim) Wasylow, Mekinock, ND, Joane (Art) Wosick, Minto, ND, Susan (Kurt) Wanstrom, Moore, ID, Beth (Karen) Zimmerman, Corvallis, OR; aunt Mary Ann Volk, Fargo, ND; mother-in-law Linda Knudson, brother-in-law Todd (Terry) Knudson; as well as many nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents Bill and Margery Wasylow; father-in-law Keith Knudson; brothers Patrick and William Jr.; and sister Carol Johnson.
Mass of Christian Burial will be Friday, December 12, 2025 at 11:00 AM at the St. Luke’s Catholic Church of Veseleyville, ND. Visitation will be from 9-11 AM at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to the First Care Health Center of Park River or a charity of your choice.

Aaron Weston, 58, of Langdon, ND, passed away November 26, 2025, at Maple Manor Care Center in Langdon, ND.

Aaron was born July 9, 1967, in Devils Lake, ND, to Harold and Gail (Gage) Weston. He attended school at Border Central in Calvin, ND, and graduated in 1985. He then furthered his education at AVTI in East Grand Forks, MN, where he studied trucking.

Aaron loved trucks, and from the age of three years old, he would ride in the truck with his dad to the Duluth, MN-Lake Superior area every chance he got. He was destined to be a truck driver, and he spent many years traveling our country’s highways. When he was 30 years old, he was diagnosed with the progressive form of multiple sclerosis.

Surviving Aaron are his mother, Gail, of Langdon, ND; siblings Andrea (John) Lawton of Lockport, NY, and Warren of Langdon, ND; nieces & nephews: Ashley (Derrick) Reed, Elizabeth (Jeremy) Martin, Kayla Weston, Alex Weston (Allison), Evan Lawton, Amy Lawton, Anna Lawton; and great-nieces & nephews: Isla, Hadley, Norah, Callie, Abigail, Alayna, Caleb, and Joshua. He was preceded in death by his father, Harold; uncles: Herb, Dick and Glen Weston; and aunt Deb Preszler.

A memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, December 12, 2025, at Brooks Funeral Home in Langdon, ND, with visitation starting at Noon.

Kathryn “Lee” Thompson, 80, of Munich, ND, passed away November 26, 2025, at Langdon Prairie Health in Langdon, ND.

Lee was born June 28, 1945, in Orange County, CA, to Charles and Wilma (Holloway) Cagle. She married Gary Thompson on August 9, 1985, in Langdon, ND. At the age of 38, she went to college to be a nurse and worked as a LPN for over 20 years in the local nursing homes. She loved sewing, quilting, and making craft dolls.

Lee is survived by her husband, Gary, of Munich, ND; sons Shaun (Nicole) Thompson and Jason (Kristina) Thompson; grandchildren: Jacob, Emily, Matthew, Sophia, Kaitlyn, Caden, and Trevor; great-grandchildren: Leia, Colt, Dixson, and Alea; and siblings Charles Cagle Jr. and Claudia Marthaller. She was preceded in death by her parents.

No services will be held.

Arthur G. Toews Obituary –


It is with deep sadness that our family announces the passing of our father and grandfather, Arthur Toews on Tuesday November 25, 2025 at the age of 100 years.


He is predeceased by his wife Hilda, and eldest son Ken.


He will be missed by his son Vernon (Wendi), and grandchildren Jessika (Travis), Katarina and Kole, as well as, his sister, Margareta Toews, and brother Edgar Toews.


Arthur was born in April 16,1925 to Isaak and Margaretha Toews of Arnaud, MB. He was the oldest of 8 children and spoke fondly of growing up on the farm with uncles, aunts and cousins living in close proximity. He also spoke of the challenges of living during the depression, and how it was a simpler time. He enjoyed his relationships with his siblings, and looked forward to opportunities to connect with them as they all got older.


As dad started his teaching career, he met Hilda Loeppky from Halbstadt, MB. He was smitten and in August 1948, they were married and spent 75 years together. During this time, they relocated several times in southern Manitoba as dad took on different teaching positions, and finally settled in Morden.


Dad was a full-time teacher for 38 years, and in addition to his teaching duties, dad and mom were active members in the Morden Mennonite Church. Dad was a committed Christian, and his faith guided him in everything that he did.


Dad found enjoyment in a variety of community sporting activities, including golfing at Minnewasta Golf course, curling and badminton. He enjoyed teaching in another form by being a Driver Education instructor, where many High School students and widows learned how to drive under his patient guidance. He also gave back to his community by being a volunteer ambulance driver for several years.


In his retirement years dad found ways to keep active, and these activities included owning and managing an apartment block, delivering motorhomes for Triple E in Winkler, going on trips with my mother, carpentry and gardening.


Dad loved and appreciated his grandchildren. He really enjoyed hearing about their accomplishments and milestones, and was always interested in knowing what they were up to.


We, as a family give thanks to God for the long-life dad was given, and we will cherish the memories he left us with.
