Armand Arthur Joseph Blais
1958 ~ 2023
On Saturday October 21, 2023 at the age of 65, Armand Blais passed away at the Health Sciences Centre after a short battle with cancer.
Armand was born April 22nd, 1958, to Louis and Edna Blais. He was the second oldest of eight children. He was a great helper to his mom with his younger siblings. Armand refused to go to school when he was young, and instead got his first job roofing for Hacke at the age of 14. At the age of 17, Armand became a dad. He was very proud of his children. Armand worked most of his life washing windows on high rise buildings in Winnipeg. He also spent a few years working in Toronto and then Vancouver before returning to Winnipeg. He took great pride in showing his nieces and nephews how to wash windows the proper way. Armand had a great love for camping and fishing and spent weekends camping and fishing with his children when they were young. He also set up a little camp beside the Red River at the junction of St. Mary’s and St. Annes. He was very proud of his campsite and hosted many visitors there. In the summer, you could often find Armand by the river.
Armand is survived by his daughter, Brenda and her husband, Traver Klassen, and their children, Hadassah, Hannah, Adina, Darcy, Sheridan, Sapphire and great granddaughter, Aspen; his son, Robert and his children, Cash and Carter as well as Curtis and his son, Kayden; his mother, Edna, his brothers, Bruce and Harvey, his sisters, Brenda and Mabel and his sister-in-law, Gizelle and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his father, Louis, his brothers, Louis, Kelvin and Mark, his brother-in-law, Maurice and great nephew, Jacob.
The family would like to thank some of the special nurses at the Health Sciences Centre who took care of him with great compassion. A special thanks to the medical oncologist, Dr. Maksymiuk who visited him every day and offered the most hopeful care and treatment plan during his hospital stay.
Armand was cremated and the memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, October 30, 2023, at Neil Bardal Funeral Home in Winnipeg. Donations may be made to the family to help with the cost of the memorial.
