Arnold John Dvorak, age 73 of Pisek, North Dakota passed away Monday, May 22, 2023 at Altru Hospital in Grand Forks. He was born September 2, 1949 in Grafton, ND, son of the late Frank D. and Hattie (Greicar) Dvorak.
Following high school Arnie worked for area farmers for several years. He then established a career as a heavy equipment operator, traveling many states as a member of the Operating Engineers Local 49 Union. He moved back to Pisek following his retirement, where he lived until his death.
Arnie enjoyed having his little nieces and nephews come to his parents’ home. He visited with and laughed with them, and gave them rides on the family’s little horse, Flicka. Arnie had a fondness for animals, especially dogs, horses and cattle, and had a special bond with his beloved dog, Barney. He also enjoyed working in his vegetable garden.
Arnie is survived by his sister, Pat (Ken) Sweeney, Park River, ND; brothers: Larry (Bonny) Dvorak, Park River, ND; Ron Dvorak, Park River, ND; Damian (Janet) Dvorak, Park River, ND; brother-in-law, Don Fitzsimonds, Andover, MN. Several nieces and nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews also survive. He was preceded in death by his parents and sister Loretta Fitzsimonds.
A memorial service and inurnment will take place on Saturday, June 10 at 2:00 p.m. at the St. John Nepomucene Church and Cemetery in Pisek, followed by lunch and fellowship in the church basement.
