Bernard Richard Klassen was born on Nov. 25, 1947 in Winkler Manitoba to Peter and Mary Klassen. Bernie was the middle of 5 children, and he spent his childhood and youth growing up on the farm in Blumenfeld and he was baptised at the age of 19 in the Reinland EMMC church.
Bernie lived his life to the fullest. On August 24, 1969 he married Betty Klassen and would raise two kids with her, Dorian and Myra.
He was most well known as a businessman, a trucker, avid Coca-Cola drinker and a man of God. He served on the Winkler Fire Department, became an ambulance driver, served two years at MCC Headquarters in Lancaster Co., Pennsylvania and helped finish building the current building of Union Gospel Mission in Winnipeg.
He loved to travel, taking his wife through Isreal, Jordan and Egypt, and with his children, to the Amazon, Mexico and nearly every state in the US.
Although Bernie loved his trucks, his family was his greatest joy.
His values and legacy continue to be carried out by his family. Through his example, all seven grandchildren know and serve the Lord at camps, churches, and in the mission field. And this was his greatest joy and living legacy.
He is survived by his wife Betty, Son: Dorian & Gloria Klassen, Daughter: Myra & Mark Harder, Grandchildren: Eli & Rachelle, Samson & Johanna, Tamar, Hudson, Robyn, June, Zeb, Great-grandchildren: Isaiah, Jaxon, Brother: Bill & Esther Klassen, Sister: Maryanne & George Klassen, Sister-in-law: Tina Klassen
