With heavy hearts the family announces the passing of Robert Hunt Hodgson, aged 86 of Roland, Manitoba. He is predeceased by his wife Jacqueline. Left to cherish his memory are his children Kimberly (Brian Kenyon), Tannis (Rob Piper) and Scott (Tammy), grandchildren, William, Taylor, Hannah, Chad, Megan, Madison, Bobby and Geoff, and great-grandchildren, Asher, Micah, Eden, Ruth and Rosie. Also mourning his loss are sisters Bea Nicholson and Dorothy Tjaden, sister-in-law Cathy Poole (Allan) and Jane Ridley, along with beloved nieces, nephews and cousins.
Robert “Bobby or Bob” Hodgson was raised on the farm in Myrtle. He received a diploma in Agriculture from the university of Manitoba. Bob raised a family and farmed with his wife Jackie before retiring to Roland. Bob taught courses in computer farm marketing. He was a founding member of Keystone Ag Producers. He also worked for Manitoba Farm Mediation. Bob worked and lobbied tirelessly for the betterment of the Manitoba farmers.
Bob was a talented woodworker and loved creating projects for his family. He loved his family with his whole heart. His love and dedication for his wife was inspirational and created an unbreakable bond and and firm family foundation. Bob was dedicated to his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. He would speak of them often and reminisce about his adventures with them. He was very community minded and enjoyed the company of friends. His loving nature, Dad jokes, sense of humour and his love of family and community will be greatly missed.
The funeral service will be held at Roland United Church, Friday, October 11, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. followed by a lunch at the Roland Memorial Hall.
