(nee Rodgers)
September 14, 1947 - July 10, 2025
Peacefully, surrounded by family, Sharlyne went to her eternal rest on Thursday July 10, 2025 at Boundary Trails Health Centre
Sharlyne was born in Brandon, Manitoba and lived in Wawanesa, Dauphin and Brandon in her early years. In 1958 she moved to Morden when her father transferred to run Canadian Propane in the community.
After finishing high school, she trained to be a key punch specialist, living in Winnipeg, working at Great West Life until her marriage to Michael Walske in 1969. Upon marriage they moved to the Walske family farm in the 1-6 district where they lived until they transitioned from the farm to Morden in 2003.
Sharlyne had many talents that she shared with family and community. She was an organist for the Pearce and St. Paul’s United Churches, honoured as the supreme grand national soloist for the Order of Royal Purple, and sang at many weddings and special occasions for friends and family. She was an avid crafter, always keeping her hands busy knitting, crocheting, sewing, or hand quilting, and by using her fine dexterity to create needlepoint or cross stitch works of art. She shared this talent by gifting many homemade items to friends, family and Christmas Cheer each year.
Sharlyne valued her community and peers. She donated time volunteering, and was always there to support the local clubs, community celebrations and achievements. She had a welcoming home, which many friends and neighbours randomly stopped in for a game or cards, or just a visit. She cherished her friendships and particularly loved her time working with a group of community ladies at Wiebe’s Funeral Home Chapel catering.
Above all else, Sharlyne was a farm wife, mother and grandmother. Her family was her most precious achievement and she worked diligently to keep everyone organized and on-track.
She is survived by her loving husband, Michael, son Cory and grandsons Mackenzie (partner Trista), Zackary, and Mitchell, daughter Tricia (Cory Cabernel), sister Daun (Peter Klassen) and family, Sister-in-law Marilyn (John Dell) and family. She was predeceased by her parents Doreen (nee Cory) and Stephen Rodgers and parents-in-law Vera (Meilicke) and Arthur Walske and nephew Mark Dell.
The family would like to extend gratitude to the staff at BTHC for the excellent care “Bonnie” received. We will be forever grateful for the compassion and dignity displayed in her care.
A Celebration of Life service will be held on Thursday, July 17, 2025, at 11 am at the Wiebe Funeral Chapel in Morden, MB.
