Burnice Geske-Stenberg, 96 of Devils Lake formerly of Sheyenne ND passed away on Friday, April 15, 2022 at Eventide Heartland Care Center in Devils Lake.
Burnice Lorine Soggie was born on October 3, 1925 at rural Oberon ND, the daughter of Harold and Alma (Christianson) Soggie. She spent her early years in the Oberon and Fort Totten area.
Burnice married Glen Geske on December 23, 1944. In 1962 they established their home on the Geske Ranch at St. Michael ND. She was the dedicated ranch wife, helping with the chores, the haying and all that went into living life on the farm. Glen died on August 22, 1967.
In 1969, Burnice moved to Sheyenne where she met and later married Victor Stenberg on October 27, 1979. Victor died on March 7, 1981. Burnice continued to call Sheyenne home until increasing health issues were the deciding factor to move to Odd Fellows in Devils Lake and then to Eventide Heartland Care Center where she resided at the time of her death.
In her spare time, Burnice enjoyed gardening and sewing. She had a beautiful talent as a yodeler and entertained the residents and staff at Odd Fellows and Eventide. She truly treasured any time spent with family and friends.
Burnice’s loving family include her son Gary Geske and his wife Judy; grandsons Glen Geske, Barry Geske and Jeff (Lori) Brenno; granddaughter Tammy (Kelly) Nice; five great grandchildren; 4 great great grandchildren and many nieces, nephews and their families.
She was preceded in death by her husbands Glen and Victor; daughter Linda Brenno and seven siblings.
