Cathy was born on October 13, 1936 in Carman, MB. She grew up and attended school in Roseisle. Cathy worked many jobs around Manitoba, Saskatchewan and Ontario over the years before settling in Middlechurch, Manitoba where she worked as a nurses aid. After 4 or so years, she returned to her roots, where she was swept off her feet, by her love Edgar. They got married on Dec 20th, 1958. They settled on Edgar’s family farm south of Roseisle where they had 3 children, 10 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. Cathy spent 30 years as a local school bus driver for Midland School Division and worked part time for Campbell’s General Store.
Cathy loved spending her time looking after her many grandchildren. Whether it was baking, attending their many activities or quietly watching them from her recliner. There was never a day where she wasn’t involved in the family’s lives. Cathy loved taking care of their home on the farm. She was always ready to drive a truck, make a meal or run for parts when needed. She could be found in the kitchen whipping up a batch of her most famous Chocolate chip cookies, or preparing a Thanksgiving meal of Turkey and stuffing. If she wasn’t at home, you could find her in the passenger seat, checking flax crops around Manitoba, with Edgar. She rarely missed an opportunity to be a part of these long days.
Cathy and Edgar loved to travel. Some of their destinations included Ireland, Scotland, England, Alaska, the entirety of Canada, as well as many US States. They traveled mostly with family or friends. They spent several winters on Vancouver Island with family and friends, making many new friends during their stays. Cathy enjoyed one last trip out to BC in spring of 2025 to visit with her sister in law Jenny and close friends Jim & Lynn.
Cathy’s favourite quiet time hobby was watching the birds and deer out her front window. She also loved her flowers and plants, Orchids being her most recent favourite. Cathy was an animal lover, she complained about the hair and the dirty paws, but she was always sneaking a treat to Millie. She loved checking on the baby calves in the spring up until this last fall, when she requested a ride out to go see what was new! Cathy took joy in the beauty of nature.
Cathy always had a humorous comment or some wise piece of advice for her family. She always was loving and supportive.
Cathy will be dearly missed by everyone that loved her.
The family would like to thank the Boyne Lodge Care Facility, especially the nurses, aids and activity staff for keeping Cathy entertained and well cared for.
