On June 6, 2024, Celia Friesen, a loving Wife, Mother, Grandma, Daughter, Sister, Aunt, and Friend was taken into the loving arms of her Saviour at the age of 54 after a courageous battle with cancer.
She leaves behind her dear husband Bob, their daughter Amanda and Carson McIntyre, and her grandchildren Jaymyn, Cohen, Kade, Evangeline and Tate. Celia is also survived by her Mom, Wilma Bergsma, her siblings Anne (Larry), Len (Teresa), Andrew (Trudy), Ed (Michelle), Alice (Ed), John (Shannon), Ken (Francine), Betty (Jud), Nelena (Mark), Brad (Sophia). She will also be missed by her Friesen family. Linda (Vic), Bert (Sharon), Harve, Connie (Garvin). She was predeceased by her precious grandson Ayden, her Mom Neeltje Bergsma, her Dad Auke Bergsma and her Friesen parents Henry and Betty Friesen.
Celia was born on October 9, 1969 in Carman. She spent her growing up years on the farm, with her siblings. We have many memories of her smart wit and enthusiasm in everything she did. She spent many years doing administrative and bookkeeping work for various business in Carman and Winnipeg.
Celia and Bob were married on May 11, 2002. Together with Amanda, they made their home in Carman. Celia and Bob owned and operated Carm Auto Ag for many years and in their recent years have enjoyed many hours on the golf course, walks through town and the Carman pathway, and motorcycle rides. They enjoyed leisure time in Florida for many winter months and made many memories together camping in the summer time. Family was very important to Celia and her grandchildren were the joy of her life. She was their dedicated sports fan, and they made many memories together, also on a few special vacations. She found time to support, care for and celebrate her parents, her siblings, her nieces and nephews, and her friends. She always remembered the needs of others even when her own health was challenging.
Celia’s last few years were difficult for her and her family. She faced her cancer journey bravely and did not complain. She trusted God to carry her and kept her strong mind and sense of humour to the end. She was ready to be carried into her Saviour’s arms.
We would like to thank Dr. Altman and his team, Dr. Woelk and the nursing staff at Boundary Trails Hospital, Dr. Liang, and Dr. Nejad and the staff at Carman Memorial Hospital for their compassionate care for Celia and support to her family in her last days with us.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Carman Palliative Care, South Central Cancer Resource, or CancerCare Manitoba.
