Clara Anne Schroeder

Clara Schroeder passed away on the morning of June 8, 2025, at the Pembina Manitou Health Centre at the age of 86.
Clara was born in Winkler to Henry Wiebe and Annie (Dyck) Wiebe in 1939. She was the second of four children. She attended school in Winkler and later worked as an operator for Manitoba Telephone Systems. Her father was a veteran of WWII and this shaped her childhood in profound ways. She was married to Frank Schroeder in 1959. Together they raised three children and lived in Plum Coulee before moving to Morden in 1973, where they resided for the rest of their lives. As her children grew up, Clara worked part time as a clerk at Stedmans Variety Store. She was an active member of the Morden Bergthaler Mennonite Church for many years and enjoyed volunteer work, curling, baking, reading, antiques, and getting together with friends to play cards and dominoes. Clara was proud of her home and family, loved a good laugh, and could describe almost every restaurant meal she enjoyed in precise detail. She could talk easily with friends and strangers alike. Her community was very important to her, and she valued her relationships, the beauty of the natural world, and the example of kindness and care found in Jesus Christ.
Clara will be deeply missed by her family. Her children will remember her for her unwavering love and support, even in the difficult periods of life. She was predeceased by her husband Frank in 2008, her brother Henry Wiebe and sister-in-law Shirley Wiebe, as well as Frank’s siblings. She is mourned by her three children, their spouses, and four grandchildren: Garry Schroeder (Elina Lambert), Don Schroeder, Janice Schroeder (Chris Wiebe), Talia Schroeder, Laurel Schroeder, Anna Wiebe, and Sylvia Wiebe. She is survived by her sister, Marilyn Dyck (Brad Dyck), and her brother, John Wiebe (Rita Wiebe), as well as numerous nieces, nephews, friends, and neighbours.
For providing care and support to Clara in her final years and months, the family acknowledges with sincere gratitude the staff of Manitoba Home Care, Morden Activity Centre (Friendship Centre), Boundary Trails Hospital, and Pembina Manitou Health Centre.
May our mother, grandmother, sister, auntie, and friend rest in God’s eternal peace.
The funeral service for Clara Schroeder will be held Saturday, June 28 at 2pm at Wiebe Funeral Chapel in Morden.
