Clarence accepted the Lord Jesus as his personal saviour when he was at Burwalde Bible Camp and was baptized at the Winkler Mennonite Church as a teen.
Tragedy struck his home March 15, 1941, when he was only one year old. His mother Agnes and sister Marie were trapped in a sudden blizzard and died. Later his father remarried Sarah, who he was raised by and knew as his mother.
Clarence spent his life working hard. He was a great mechanic, and his father would wait for him to come home from school to fix anything that needed attention. He was also very inventive. Clarence loved farming, trucking, logging and hauling. He grew and exported alfalfa hay and baled and hauled flax straw.
Clarence was active in the church, first as a Sunday school teacher, then as a moderator for quite a few years, as well as partaking in the building committee for the Mennonite Church in Elm Creek.
He was a quiet man with great inner strength and discipline. His wish and prayers were that his children and grandchildren would live productive lives using their gifts and talents and that they would have an intimate relationship with Jesus. He prayed for them every day.
We are comforted by the fact that his suffering is over, he is with his creator, and we will all meet again.
