Cornelio Kauenhofen Friesen was born April 27, 1946 in Santa Clara, Chihuahua, Mexico as the eldest son to Cornelio and Katharina (Friesen) Kauenhofen. He passed away peacefully Monday, May 18th 2026 in Winkler Manitoba at the age of 80 years and 21 days.
He lived in Santa Clara, Mexico with his parents until he was 11 years old when he moved with his family to Tamaulipas, Mexico. He went to school for 4 years in Chihuahua, and later 2 more years in Tamaulipas. He got baptized upon the confession of his faith in Jesus Christ on June 5, 1966 by Bishop Abram Friesen in the Sommerfeld Mennonite Church in Gonzalez, Tamaulipas.
Cornelio Kauenhofen F. and Eva Froese were married on August 16th, 1966, in Tamaulipas. They were married for 59 years 9 months and 1 day. They were blessed with 10 children and raised them to a farmers life. He retired his farm in 2009. They later years they often came to Manitoba for the summer months.
On August 9th 2017, He suffered from a heart attack. Doctors gave little hope that he would recover, but he miraculously did. The doctors credited this to his praying family and that God was not finished with him yet. His heart had received severe damage though.
Cornelio Kauenhofen F. was beloved Father and Opa, and celebrated his 80th birthday with their family in Mexico. He was able to spend his last three weeks with their family in Canada.
He was preceded in death by his parents and 2 brothers. Survivors include his wife, Eva (Froese) Kauenhofen, 4 sons and 6 daughters, 9 children-in-law, 41 grandchildren, 28 grandchildren-inlaw and 84 greatgrandchildren. His children are Nettie Kauenhofen, Peter Kauenhofen and his wife Tina, Johnny Kauenhofen and his wife Nela, Maria Martens and her husband Edy, Anita Thiessen and her husband Peter, David Kauenhofen and his wife Eva, Lisa Martens and her husband Pete, Martha Thiessen and her husband Willy, Abram Kauenhofen and his wife Bertha, and Emmy Enns and her husband Jacob. He was Father to 135 Souls.
