Daniel Joseph Young, age 62 of Park River, ND passed away on Thursday, April 6, 2023 at the Sanford Health Center of Fargo.
Daniel Young was born September 29, 1960 in Kempten, Germany, the son of Rosa (Burkhardt) Young and the late Joseph Young. The family settled in Devils Lake, ND where Dan attended school, graduating from Devils Lake High School. He then attended Lake Region State College in Devils Lake, graduating with a degree in Respiratory Therapy. Following his education he moved to Park River, ND and began his 35 year career as a respiratory therapist. He was united in marriage to Tracy Mattson on September 28, 1991 at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church of Oakwood. The couple made their home in Park River where Dan volunteered on the Park River Ambulance as well. He became a certified Paramedic in 1997 and was still currently working as a paramedic and respiratory therapist.
Dan was a member of the St. Mary’s Catholic Church of Park River, ND. He was also the president of the Park River Ambulance Service and served on the Hillcrest Golf Course Board. He enjoyed bowling, golfing and playing pool.
He is survived by his wife Tracy, Park River, ND; son Michael Young, Park River, ND; mother Rosa Young, Sioux Falls, SD; sister Josephine Bottenhagen, Sioux Falls, SD; as well as several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, and aunt, Helen Ketterling.
Mass of Christian Burial will be Thursday, April 13, 2023 at 10:30 AM at the St. Mary’s Catholic Church of Park River. Visitation will be from 9-10:30 AM at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to the Park River Ambulance or to First Care Health Center of Park River.
