He is survived by his daughters, Katharina (Trevor), Victoria, and Patricia; his mother, Nettie; and his sister, Rhonda. He was predeceased by his beloved daughter, Samantha, and his father, John.
During the snowstorm of the century, he was born on March 1, 1966, at Bethel Hospital in Winkler, Manitoba, to John and Nettie Heinrichs. He and his mom were escorted home through the drifts by their neighbor and physician, Dr. Froese, to meet his waiting dad.
From a young age, Darryl was captivated by anything with an engine, which drew him to acquiring his 1966 Mustang. In 2010, he realized a lifelong dream by acquiring both his pilot’s license and his own airplane. He found immense joy in the freedom of flight, especially when sharing his passion with his dad or his daughters.
An outdoorsman at heart, Darryl enjoyed volunteering for several years with the Morden JR Rifle Club and Morden Air Cadets. He took great pride in passing on his love for hunting and shooting to his daughters, cherishing the quiet days spent together in a stand or at the range.
Darryl was a thoughtful, quiet man whose world revolved around his mom and his daughters. He adored them more than anything in this world and always looked forward to the next family dinner home cooked by his mom and the card games that followed. He also treasured his time spent with close friends.
In recent years, Darryl was able to travel extensively. Visiting his daughter in Gillam and travelling to Churchill, and travelling to Mexico and Spain provided many fond memories.
