Dora was born in Horndean, Manitoba, the eldest girl in a family of 4 girls and 5 boys. Dora’s name means “gift” or “gift of God”.
Dora lived most of her life on the family farm in Stephenfield. She often spoke of life on the farm and her special fondness for her pets including her dog Spotty and Robert, her black lab. Dora spent her later years in Carman.
Dora was creative, colorful and enthusiastic. She loved walking, reading the scriptures-most especially the Psalms and reading the newspapers.
Dora enjoyed warmly greeting others she would meet with sincere interest in how others were doing and she had special care for those who were sick or grieving, often remembering them before the Lord.
Dora’s nieces will miss their “Auntie Dora”.
Patty and husband Lou appreciated Auntie’s kind and inclusive ways and her heartfelt love.
Debbie appreciated all the time spent in conversation and how Auntie would sincerely and vivaciously praise the Lord! Aunt Dora would listen with her heart and was very sensitive to others feelings and emotions. She had an amazing memory and would ask about friends by name and remember their circumstances and situations so well. When she received a card or a gift or another kindness she never hesitated to express her thankfulness in detail.
She was quick to pray for others and also taught me by example about coming before the Lord both sincerely and humbly. No wonder the Psalms were her favorite place to go. She was never ashamed to share her faith in God and she sincerely cared for others. She faced many hardships and challenges in life, and yet God was so faithful and brought her home into His presence so gently. Thank You Jesus.
Debbie is grateful for all the road trips with her Mom to visit Auntie Dora and trips to Winkler for noodle soup.
Romans 5:1-2 says
Therefore, since we have been justified through faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom we have gained access by faith into this grace in which we now stand. And we rejoice in the hope of the glory of God.
John 11:25-26 says
Jesus said to her, “I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in me will live even though he dies, and whoever lives and believes in me will never die. Do you believe this?”
So we look forward to meeting again in the presence of the Lord because of God’s love, grace and forgiveness in and through Jesus.
