Edith is survived by her son Glen (Jo-Anne) Harrison, her grandchildren Deanna (Russ) Stevenson, Matt (Katie) Harrison, Jeremy (Mikayla) Franczak, and Brett (Meara) Harrison and her great grandson Harvey Stevenson. She was predeceased by her husband Grant, her daughter Adele Franczak, her parents Arnor and Dell Holm, and Grant’s parents Percy and Ida Harrison.
Edith was born June 14, 1938, in Winnipeg Manitoba and was raised on a dairy farm near Husavik, Manitoba. After she completed her schooling at Kjarna school, she attended Teacher’s College in Winnipeg and taught in Darlingford and Glenora. It was in Glenora where she met Grant, and in 1959, they were married.
They farmed and raised their family in Glenora and retired to Carman in 1998. Edith was proud of her Icelandic heritage and enjoyed making all the traditional treats every Christmas. She was an active member of the Glenora Booster club and enjoyed volunteering at various events within the community. When they moved to Carman, Edith continued her volunteer work with the Carman Ladies Legion Auxiliary and the Carman Health Auxiliary.
Edith was very artistic and taught ceramic classes for many years out of her basement studio, eventually developing a passion for oil painting. She took great pride in displaying her work within her home and at art shows around southern Manitoba.
At Edith’s request there will be no formal service. A private family service will be planned at a later date. The family would like to extend their appreciation to Dr. Tyler Atchison, the staff at the Carman Clinic, and the Carman Home Care team for all they did to help Edith.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to:
