(nee Goertzen)
March 26, 1946 - March 5, 2026
It is with heavy hearts and profound sadness that we announce the passing of our dear mom and grandma, Betty Fehr, on Thursday, March 5, 2026. She was predeceased by her loving husband Abe of 48 years, parents Sarah & Jacob Goertzen, brother Jake, sister Martha, sister-in-law Marian Goertzen and brother-in-law Art Warkentine.
Betty leaves to mourn her children Marlene (Bill) Stoopendaal, Wayne (Carla) Fehr and Carla (Chris) Moreau, grandchildren Liam Stoopendaal (Sarah), Cael Clements and Lucas and Cole Fehr.
She is survived by her sisters Mary Warkentine, Anne (Mike) Willis, Helen (Doug) Asham, Tina (Abe) Friesen, brother Jerry (Pam) Goertzen, sister-in-law Doris Camire, brother-in-law John Unger, and many extended family members of the Goertzen, Bueckert & Fehr families.
Betty was born on March 26, 1946 in Winkler, Manitoba. She grew up and attended school with her seven siblings in Chortitz, Manitoba. In 1965, she was baptized upon confession of her faith in the Old Colony Church in Chortitz and married Abe Fehr on June 26, 1966.
Betty & Abe lived in Morden for most of their married life, raising their three children, Marlene, Wayne & Carla. Mom was always a very hard worker. She graduated from the Nursing Assistant training program and worked at Tabor Home for more than 30 years, lovingly caring for the elderly and frail, and making lasting connections with their families.
Betty had an unwavering gratitude and love for life, God and her family and friends. She shared this love in part through her baking. She always came bearing pies, buns, jams & treats in hand and loved the joy it brought her neighbours and family, and in recent years she took up quilting and made beautiful quilts that she lovingly crafted with precision.
On any summer day, Betty could be found in her perennial garden, tending to her many flowers and roses or working in her vegetable garden. She took immense pride in everything she did, whether it was keeping her house immaculately spotless, her bed linen crisp or her hair and outfit perfectly polished.
Throughout all the challenges Betty faced with her health over the years, her strength, faith and resilience was steadfast. She gave us the gift of her love and all the memories she has created with us.
The family would like to thank the many doctors and medical professionals that cared for our mom over the years and made it possible for her to live a full and thriving life, including Dr. Brian Duff, Dr. Michael Raabe and Dr. Jason McElhoes.
A public viewing will be held at Wiebe’s Funeral Chapel in Morden on Thursday, March 12, 2026 from 1-8 pm, and prior to the service.
A Celebration of Life will follow on Friday, March 13, 2026 at 1:00pm at Wiebe’s, with interment to follow at Chapel Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, if friends so desire, donations may be made in Betty’s memory to the St. Boniface Hospital Foundation.
“ I have fought a good fight. I have finished my course, I have kept the faith: Henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give me at that day. “
