Elizabeth “Betty” L. Lien, age 91 of Grafton, ND passed away on Sunday, August 3, 2025 at the Lutheran Sunset Home of Grafton.
Betty Louise Duray was born September 22, 1933 to the late William “Bill” and Dorothy (Schultz) Duray, on the farm near Ardoch, ND. She grew up in the Ardoch area and attended school at St. Anthony’s Academy in Warsaw.
Betty united in marriage to Victor Lien on October 26, 1950 in Park River. They made their home in Park River, where they lived for many years. They relocated to Grafton. She worked at Zinke’s Café, where she made lifelong friends. Betty began working at Deaconess Hospital as a nurse’s aide and worked there for many years. She was a long-time member of Grafton Lutheran Church.
Betty is survived by her children Brad (Leslie) Lien, Forest Lake, NC and Steve (Kelsey) Lien, Crookston, MN; her grandchildren: Alayna, Emily, Michael, Alex, and McKenna; and her sister Mary (Larry) Burger, Thompson, ND. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, sons: Ray and Wayne, and siblings: John, Gene, Dan, Jerry, Bill, Larry and Pat.
Funeral services will be on Tuesday, August 12, 2025 at 2:00 pm at the Tollefson Funeral Home of Grafton. Visitation will one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Interment will be at Grafton Lutheran Cemetery.
