December 18, 1960 - June 13, 2025
Betty passed away peacefully with her husband Rod and family members by her side on June 13th at Boundary Trails Hospital, after a brief battle with cancer. She was 64 years old.
Betty was born on December 18, 1960 to Jacob F. and Sara Kehler. She grew up in the village of Kronsthal and attended the Kronsthal Elementary School and later graduated from W. C. Miller Collegiate in Altona.
Betty was baptized in the Altona Sommerfeld Mennonite Church.
Betty met Rod through a mutual acquaintance. They were married on September 28, 1991. They welcomed two children into their family, Travis Dean and Tyrell Brayden.
After her parents passed away, Betty was the one who did her best to keep her siblings together. She was always planning get togethers for all the special holidays. She would plan a menu and would tell everyone what they were responsible to bring. It was always a great day.
Betty worked at Garden Valley Collegiate as an EA. She enjoyed her job and her co-workers. It was very special when some of her co-workers stopped by the hospital with an envelope full of hand made cards from some of the students she worked with. The cards were very thoughtful, heartwarming, and very much appreciated!
Betty is survived by her husband Rod, sons Travis and special friend Jen, Tyrell, grandson Kash, brothers Bernie (Bev) Kehler, Gerry Kehler, sisters Linda Kehler, Irma (Jim) Fehr, sister-in-laws Annamarie Kehler, Laurie Kehler, Mavis (Dan) Enbrecht, brothers-in-law Lloyd Braun, Harley (Betty) Sawatzky, Darrell Sawatzky, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Betty was predeceased by her parents, 3 brothers and 4 sisters, and her parents-in-law.
Betty, you are missed. Till we meet again.
The family would like to thank our extended family and friends for their support, Betty’s co-workers and employer, Ron Gerbrandt for officiating, the doctors and nurses at Boundary Trails Health Centre and Health Sciences Centre, the ambulance staff, and Wiebe Funeral Home in Winkler.
A private service will be held with family and close friends.
