Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, February 10, 2022 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church with the Very Reverend C.F. Wilhelm celebrating the Mass. Burial will be in St. Joseph’s Catholic Cemetery.
Ernestine Marie Herman was the 3rd child of 13 children born to Ernest and Beulah (Parisien) Herman. Ernestine was born on July 12, 1947 at Fort Totten ND. She went to school at St. Michael’s Indian Mission School for 9 years. She then attended school at the Maddock Agriculture High School.
After completing her education, she married Peter Dauphinais and they were the proud parents of Todd and Cory Dean. Ernestine later adopted Jessica Dauphinais.
Ernestine was employed for 20 plus years in the Housekeeping Department of Mercy Hospital and was forced to retire due to health issues.
Ernestine loved to host birthday parties, family get-togethers and other special events. She loved to prepare the whole meal and truly enjoyed the love and fellowship shared. Ernestine was a loving, caring, beloved Mom, sister, aunt, cousin and dear friend. Her family was her treasure.
Ernestine’s family include her son Todd Dauphinais; daughter Jessica Dauphinais; sisters Mary Jane (Wayne) Carlson, Yvonne Shipley, Shirley “Chicken” Herman and Toni “CheeChee” Herman (Tim Olson) all of Devils Lake and Brenda (Bud) Pendergast of Tennessee; special family Hyllis Dauphinais and family; many dear nieces, nephews and their families.
She was preceded in death by her parents, son Cory at birth, brothers Ernest Jr. and Alfred “Baldie” Herman, sisters Betty Ann (Kenny) Jager, Deborah Herman, Jeanette Jore, Elsie Jean Herman and Lucille Herman.
