Eunice was born on June 25, 1937, in Grand Forks, ND, to Carl and Bella (Sannes) Berg. Eunice grew up in Reynolds, ND, and graduated from Reynolds High School. She attended college at Mayville State, earning a degree in Elementary Education. While there, she met Bernard Carlson. They were married August 17,1958, and moved to Cavalier, ND, where they both taught school. They had two daughters, Colette and Connie. Bernard passed away in 1967. On May 26, 1973, she married Eric Dietrich. They enjoyed 51 years of marriage together.
Eunice had a passion for helping kids. She was an English teacher and guidance counselor and retired after 43 years at Cavalier Public School. She continued to substitute for many years beyond her retirement. Receiving a card, letter or phone call from a former student brought her great joy.
Eunice was guided throughout her life by her faith. She was a prayer warrior for her family and others. Anyone who knew Eunice remembers her as a caring, loving person. She was the foundation of her family. The thing she loved most was spending time with Eric, her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She did her best to attend all of their activities and cheer them on. She was also very close to her nieces and nephews who referred to her as Auntie No No.
Eunice was exceptionally active in her community and touched the lives of many through her lifelong service in her church, school and community activities. She especially enjoyed delivering Meals on Wheels, attending Red Hats and Homemakers.
Eunice is survived by her husband, Eric, daughters: Colette Nordstrom, Connie (Doug) Sigurdson; grandchildren: Brandon (Ashley) Nordstrom, Kyle (Lee) Nordstrom, Amanda (Grant) Larson, Michael Sigurdson and Christopher Sigurdson; great grandchildren: Isaac, Caleb and Braley Nordstrom, Kendall Nordstrom, Olin and Henrik Larson; brother-in-law Dwight (Pam) Dietrich, sisters-in-law Janelle (James) Chaput, Mari Dietrich and Betty Carlson.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Bernard Carlson, brother Milton Berg, sisters: Frances Ritchie, Thelanore Mantos, Burdell Davidson; and brother-in-law Richard Dietrich.
