Mom was born to Peter + Maria Hiebert in Cuauhtemoc, Chihuahua, Mexico on January 8, 1964, along with a twin brother. She was the 13th of 16 children.
Mom was baptized on the confession of her faith in 1984(?), by bishop Heinrich Dyck.
On September 16, 1984, Mom and Dad were united in marriage in Aylmer, ON by minister Jacob Wiebe.
Mom had special memories of starting out on their own even if it was in a little house with no stove.
The Lord blessed our parents with 3 children. When asked what time of life she missed the most, Mom would say, “When the children were small.” We have memories of a caring Mother, very tidy housekeeper, and healthy, tasty meals. Mom enjoyed sewing dresses for her girls. Birthdays were important to her, and she always tried making the day special for us.
Dad + Mom moved various times in their lives. They enjoyed owning their first property in Winkler and here Mom planted her dream flowerbed.
As her children were growing, Mom had a concern for their spiritual welfare. She took interest in our lives…enjoying grandchildren…offering food…babysitting…
In September 2012 Mom had a very difficult time of life when Dad passed away suddenly. She missed him deeply but with her positive outlook in life and help from the Lord, she made it through.
Mom was left to live alone after her last child left home in 2015. She always enjoyed hosting us at her home, preparing delicious meals.
In 2018 Mom was diagnosed with an auto-immune liver condition. She did not let this get her low, but continued doing what she could, working up to several months before her death.
We children have fond memories of Mom’s selfless caring nature. Often she shared food, health advice, remedies, or a helping hand and listening ear.
We noticed Mom slowly losing energy + strength. In November 2023 she was admitted into BTHC for the first time. After this she stopped working and began to spend more + more time resting.
In all of Mom’s suffering she tried to remain positive, thinking about her children and their needs. She didn’t want us to worry about her, but to take care of ourselves.
On Sunday, August 11, we as a family came together for a small gathering. Mom enjoyed the day very much. She requested family pictures and those are memories we will cherish forever.
On early Tuesday morning we were called into the hospital. Mom had become unresponsive. We children spent most of our time near her bedside until she was released from her suffering at about 9:20 Thursday night. We as a family are so thankful that Mom expressed peace + confidence in Jesus her Lord + Saviour. She was resigned to His will.
Mom was preceded in death by her husband, Wilhelm Loewen in 2012, 3 brothers, and 6 sisters.
She is survived by 2 daughters and 1 son: Mary + Garry Friesen, Susie Loewen + Cameron Rempel, and Jake + Melissa Loewen. Also 11 grandchildren, 4 brothers + 2 sisters.
We as a family express our appreciation to the encouraging ministry of Mom’s church, the caring staff at BTHC, and the many relatives + friends who supported Mom with visits, food, etc. Thank you also for all who came to the funeral to show your love + support. -The Loewen Family
