Mom was born on April 2, 1939 to Cornelius J and Eva Wieler in Winkler, MB. She was the 6th of eleven children. She went to her eternal home at 3:45 am on Saturday, February 15, 2025, at the Boundary Trails Health Centre with the support of family by her side.
She attended school in Rosengart from grades 1-10 and finished her education at Elim bible school, where she graduated in 1957. She attended church in Reinland at the Blumenorter church, where she was baptized upon the confession of her faith. Attending church and being involved was important to Mom and she lived out her faith every day. Mom met the love of her life, Ernest Peters at a Jugendbund Christmas party in 1954, and started dating him in June of 1955. They were married three years later, on July 6, 1958.
Mom started her working career as a nurse's aide at the Bethel Hospital in Winkler but stepped away from that position once the family started, a mere ten months after the wedding. After that, mom was busy at home raising her five children. She had incredible skills that contributed to our upbringing and held things together. She loved to sew and made clothes for all of us including Dad’s suits. She was a fantastic cook and an incredible baker. She always pre-planned and prepared food for day trips or vacations to BC. The gardens she tended were our source of food year-round, but also the inspiration for her love of flowers. The flower gardens rivaled the vegetable garden in size, and they were beautiful. During these years, Mom volunteered as a Sunday School teacher, and Pioneer Girls leader, and regularly got together with the women’s sewing circle groups. In the early 1980s, Mom went back to work and did multi-year positions at Chicken Chef, Dairy Queen, and the local newspaper before officially retiring in the 1990s.
Mom loved her family and friends and started conversations by intentionally asking about you. She remembered incredible details about past conversations whether it was with her children, grandchildren, or great-grandchildren, and would always look you in the eyes to say I Love You. Mom was our prayer warrior and prayed specifically for each and everyone in her life. This incredible woman left us with a clear example of what Love, Grace, and Selflessness should look like. She lived most of her life suffering through persistent debilitating migraines, and other health challenges but her faith always prevailed.
Mom leaves to mourn her children, Harvey married to Dorothy, Alvina married to Gordon Penner, Nancy married to Randy Warkentine, Kevin married to Laureen, and Andrea married to Mike Knezevich, nineteen grandchildren (plus spouses), and twenty-seven great-grandchildren. She is survived by three sisters and one brother. She was predeceased by her husband Ernest Peters, her parents, Cornelius J and Eva Wieler, one sister, five brothers, and one grandson, Bradley.
