Finn Edward Abrahamson, 63, formerly of Cavalier, ND, passed away Saturday, March 7, 2026 at his daughter’s home in Rothsay, MN.
FinnEdward Abrahamson was born November 22, 1962, in Cavalier, ND to Finnbogi and Sally Rosalie (Dickison) Abrahamson. He grew up and attended school in Cavalier, although he always said he was from Akra, a proud Icelandic community. Finn then served in the U.S. Air Force and the North Dakota National Guard. Upon his medical discharge, he married his one true love, Rena Schultz. Finn was known for his Icelandic pride, as shown on his tattoos, as well as his wit, humor, and storytelling. He was a man of several trades; he excelled as a cook, working at various restaurants. While living in Sturgis, SD, he owned and operated ACE Taxi Service. Finn also resided in Nacogdoches, TX, and then in Wahpeton, ND to be near his daughters, before moving to Rothsay, MN.
He took pride in training and spending time with his dog, Jack. Gardening was a lifelong hobby he enjoyed and growing hot peppers was his specialty.
Finn will be deeply missed by his children: Emma (Kurtis) Silvernail of Rothsay, MN; Finn Bogi Abrahamson of South Dakota; Jo’n Abrahamson of Grand Forks, ND; and Lovisa Abrahamson of Nacogdoches, TX; and grandchildren: Madeline (Zach), Macen, Maveric, and Winterley; Rena, Jacob, Aldis, MaryAnn, Finn, Stephen, and Bastian. Also surviving are his mother, Sally Abrahamson, and sisters: Kristine (Kenneth) Moberg and Tana (Farron Johnson) Abrahamson, along with his nieces and nephews, and his best friend, Dean (Nadine) Remer, who was more to him than a brother ever could be.
Preceding him in death were his father, Finnbogi, his love Rena, and his stepson, Erick. A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, March 28, 2026 at 2 p.m. at the Grafton Armory in Grafton, ND
