He worked with John Dyck raising and training racehorses. He had a special way with his horses, and this became a lifelong passion for Frank. After the horses he and his brother John had many adventures. They traveled across the provinces doing odd jobs and sometimes gypsy work. He settled back in Manitoba and God blessed him with a son. Conner was born September 27, 2005.
Around 2012 is when his health issues started.
Frank met Brenda Fehr, the love of his life in 2016 and they became inseparable.
In 2017 he was able to introduce his love for fishing to Brenda. They enjoyed many fishing trips, even when he had to make it to the rivers edge with his walker. They enjoyed many adventures like fishing and road trips. Frank loved nature and the simple things in life. Sadly in 2020 the adventures had to slow down due to his health.
After his mother’s passing in 2020 his health took a turn for the worst. In September of that year, he was diagnosed with Lupus and kidney failure. In 2022 also Parkinsons on top of everything else.
Christmas day 2023 their apartment burnt down; at that time he wasn’t able to walk anymore. Living in a hotel room had its own challenges for them both. He ended up in the hospital again for three months.
He was very excited to come home to their new apartment. Brenda surprised him with a potted flower since Frank loved nature and greenery. The plant turned brown over time and when Brenda went to throw it out Frank said, “No, keep watering it.” Sadly, he only got to spend 3 months in their new home. The day Frank passed the flower bloomed once again.
In the last 4 years Frank faced so many battles with Brenda at his side always. When Frank was too tired to fight, Brenda fought hard for him.
In the hospital being weak and tired he gave his life to Jesus and then made the decision to stop treatments and go home to the Lord.
Frank passed away at Saint Boniface Hospital on October 1, 2024.
Frank was predeceased by his loving mother Katherina (Neufeld) Ketler on June 8, 2020 and his father Frank Ketler on September 13, 2021.
He leaves behind his loving wife Brenda, his son Conner, 3 brothers Henry and wife Margaret, Dave and wife Marge, John and wife Annie, as well as 5 sisters Sara Helena, Tina, Trudy, and Anna. He also leaves behind 32 nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held October 3, 2024 at 2:00PM at the Wiebe Funeral Home in Winkler.
