Gloria was born in Winnipeg to William and Violet Tuckwell. She grew up in Norwood attending Tache Grade School and Tache High School, and worked for the T. Eaton Company prior to moving to Saskatoon to complete a Bible College program. Gloria gave her life to the Lord as a teenager, joined the membership of Calvary Temple, was a deaconess with the Manitoba PAOC district since 1979, and remained actively involved in church ministries throughout her life. In 1951 she married the love of her life Herbert Bronsdon and moved to Wheaton, Illinois while Herb completed his degree at Wheaton College. In the fall of 1952 they settled in Peterborough, Ontario where they joined the staff of Eastern Pentecostal Bible College remaining there for 28 years. She worked at the Bible College as a secretary, librarian and College Hostess, which including meal planning, room checks and supervising student workers. Her greatest joy during those days was acting as a substitute mom for the numerous homesick students who were many miles from home.
Throughout her years, Gloria loved and cared for people. Her gift of hospitality was evident as she hosted and welcomed people into her home, blessing them with homemade meals, visiting, sharing stories, playing games, and building relationships and lifelong memories.
In 1979 they moved to Winnipeg to Pastor Fort Garry Pentecostal Assembly and retired when her husband’s health issues prevailed.
Gloria loved sports and as a teenager competed in Speed Skating both in Manitoba and Minnesota winning numerous championships. She hunted pheasant and duck with her dad and always enjoyed the outdoors, always referring to herself as a tomboy. With a family of her own she enjoyed many years of trailering throughout Canada and the U.S, instilling the love of the outdoors to her family. In her retirement years she spent many hours watching curling, Olympics and football games.
After her husband passed she moved into a condo at Marina Del Ray and made many wonderful friends. Her next residence became Lindenwood Manor where she renewed old friendships and enjoyed various social activities. Following a fall in November of 2017 she moved into Poseidon Personal Care Home where she lived until her passing.
She will be greatly missed, and fondly and lovingly remembered. We rejoice with her as she is with her Saviour, Jesus Christ.
The family wishes to extend their thanks and appreciation to the wonderful staff at Poseidon Personal Care Home for their love and compassionate care.
