Gordon David Peters
December 25, 1954 - January 23, 2025
Gordon David Peters was born on December 25, 1954, to Frank and Kathy Peters. He grew up on the family farm in Gnadenthal, Manitoba, alongside his twin brother, Clifford, and their six brothers. Gordon was baptized at the Blumenorter Mennonite Church in Rosetown.
Gordon met his sweetheart, Marlene, at a youth retreat at Camp Koinonia, where their love story began. They married on May 7, 1977, and started their life together in Winkler, Manitoba. In the early years of marriage, Gordon and Marlene enjoyed camping and playing cards with friends, while sharing endless laughter. Gordon enjoyed playing baseball, hockey, curling, and bowling as a way to connect with his friends.
In 1981, they welcomed their son, Mark, who loved attending all of Gordon's sporting events. Eventually, Mark’s passion for sports led Gordon to trade in his skates and cleats for a clipboard, transitioning him from player to coach. This change forged a lifelong bond that took the family all over the prairies, competing and winning various tournaments in both hockey and baseball.
The family grew when Mark and Sarah married in 2007 and later again with the birth of two grandchildren, Kaleb and Danika. Gordon loved bonding with his grandchildren through reading, playing board games and pool, traveling, and attending their games and concerts. Last year’s family trip to Nuevo Vallarta will never be forgotten as that was a place Gordon loved to visit.
Gordon had a brief stint in construction before embarking on a long and fulfilling career at Triple E. Over 40 years, he gained knowledge, skills, and lifelong friendships before retiring alongside Marlene in 2012. Their retirement years were filled with adventure, including traveling on their Harley Davidson motorcycle, enjoying winter getaways to warmer places, camping, and volunteering at the Pan De Vida Orphanage in Mexico.
Throughout his life, Gordon's faith was evident in his actions. He served his church with devotion, participating in various committees, teaching Sunday School, and guiding the congregation, all while forming lasting friendships.
Gordon will be deeply missed by his family: his loving wife, Marlene; son, Mark (Sarah); grandchildren, Kaleb and Danika; and many friends and extended family. He was predeceased by his parents, Frank and Kathy Peters; three brothers: Bob, Clifford, and Garry; as well as his sister-in-law, Lynn.
We will love you forever, Marlene, Mark, Sarah, Kaleb, and Danika
