Memorial service will be held at 11:00AM on Tuesday, August 23, 2022 at the Winkler Mennonite Brethren Church with interment prior at 10:15AM at the Winkler Cemetery. Viewing will be from 1PM-8PM on Monday at Wiebe Funeral Home, Winkler. Donations may be made in memory of Hanna to the Boundary Trails Health Centre Foundation designated to Palliative Care.
Hanna Klassen (nee Zacharias)1949 - 2022
It is with deep sorrow, that we announce the passing of Hanna Klassen. After many years of battling multiple illnesses, on the morning of Friday August 19, 2022 at her residence in Winkler, MB, Hanna Klassen (Zacharias) aged 72 years went to her heavenly home.
Hanna was born in Altona, MB, September 20, 1949. She was the 4th child born to Peter and Sarah Zacharias. Hanna grew up as the middle child of one of seven siblings. She was baptized on the confession of her faith on June 9, 1968 in the Winkler Bergthaler Church. She was married to Leonard Klassen on November 29, 1969.
Hanna loved Jesus and her family. She was active in the church and community. She was instrumental in the founding of Killarney Christian Academy where she also worked for many years. She volunteered in the Killarney MB Church in many roles, including being a deacon - for which she felt honoured to be a part of.
Hanna and Leonard spent countless summer weekends camping with their friends, and in their retirement years travelling to Mexico many times. Hanna loved being a grandma and hosted her grandkids for many playdates and sleepovers.
She leaves to mourn her three daughters and their families: Cheryl and Brent Klassen Everett (Richard), Angela and Nathan Froese (Elliot, CJ, Paige), Julia and Terry Dueck (Keziah, Nevae) as well as three sisters, two brothers and their families. She was predeceased by her husband, Leonard Klassen (2015), her parents, Peter and Sarah Zacharias and her sister, Lena Buhler.
