1928-2025
Harvey Stambuski passed away at Tabor Home on December 15, 2025, two days after his 97th birthday.
Harvey was born on December 13, 1928, in Freemasons Hospital in Morden, to Lester and Jessie Stambuski. He was the eldest of two sons.
Harvey spent his early years moving around with his parents and brother. They spent 5 years at Lucky Lake, SK before moving north of Morden from 1934-36 and then north of Thornhill from 1936-41. On October 1st, 1941, the family moved to the farm on NW 32-02-06 W1 south of Thornhill. Here he spent the next 50 years on the family farm, first farming with his parents and later, on his own.
Harvey attended the University of Manitoba from 1946-48, graduating with his Diploma in Agriculture. In 1953 he travelled to Edmonton to take a 6-week mechanical course and came back to the farm and purchased genuine tools to help with the progress of the farm.
Besides farming he loved driving his Mustang, numerous motorcycles and snow mobiles all over the place with friends. While on a motorcycle trip in 1980 they ended up too close to Mount St Helen’s when it erupted and had to stop every few miles to clean the ash out of the air intake.
After retiring to Morden in 1990, Harvey enjoyed playing pool at the friendship center with friends. He also continued to be an active curler until 91 years of age.
He was predeceased by his parents, Lester and Jessie Stambuski.
He leaves to mourn his brother and sister in law Trevor and Shirley Stambuski , nephew Dale Stambuski (Freda Lumgair) nieces Margaret (John Dart), Barb Stambuski (Ralph Cruickshank) and their families; as well as extended family and many friends.
The family extends their heartfelt thanks to the staff at Boundary Trails Health Centre, Homestead South, Lorne Memorial Hospital and Tabor Home for their compassionate and attentive care over the last 5 years.
