January 16, 1940 – June 24, 2025
It is with heavy yet peaceful hearts that we announce the passing of Harvey Peters, a kind, gentle, and hard-working man, on Tuesday, June 24, 2025, at the age of 85.
Harvey was born on January 16, 1940, to Helena and Jacob Peters. He spent his early childhood in Plum Coulee until the age of five, after which the family moved to Blumstein, settling on a farm where Harvey's love for the land began.
Harvey’s father purchased land north of Carman, moving the farm where he continued working with his Dad. During the winters, he worked at the Winkler Curling Rink. He later took over the farm and continued farming until 1982. He began working at Centennial Supply where he worked until 2009. He then spent several memorable years working at fly-in fishing camps alongside Sandra.
In 2012, Harvey started his role at the Winkler Golf Course, where he helped maintain the course and enjoyed many games himself—participating in the men’s golf league and playing with friends and family. He remained active until 2019, when he suffered a stroke that ended his working days.
Harvey was a man who took great pride in staying active. Losing his mobility in later years was one of his greatest frustrations, as he missed the simple, everyday things many take for granted. Yet even then, his spirit remained generous, enjoying family and friends visits.
Harvey married Sandra in 1960 and were just one month shy of celebrating their 65th wedding anniversary. After marrying, they bought their first home on Pembina Avenue, and later moved to their forever home on 10th Street, where they lived for 48 years and raised their family. The Peters home was a hub for friends and family with an open-door policy where you were always met with a welcoming smile. Many friends have expressed this in their memories and stories.
He endured the profound loss of his eldest son, Kim, to cancer in 2013.
Harvey will be remembered for his quiet strength, resilience, and kindness. He leaves behind a legacy of integrity, loyalty, and love.
Harvey is survived by his wife Sandra, sons James (Louise), Jonathan (Renita), Derek (Tracy), eight grandchildren Mack, Beau (Bethany), Emily, Shaelee (Reed), Camryn, Riley, Dreya and Tessa. He is also survived by two sisters, Janet (Harv) and Arlene (Reinhold). He was predeceased by his parents, Helena and Jacob, and his son Kim.
A private service will be held by the family.
