Hazel was born October 1, 1944 (80 yrs old), in Morden, MB. She grew up in the 1-6 District of Morden, which she remained proud of all her life. Her family would eventually move to town where she attended school until she graduated and moved to Winnipeg, MB. Initially she took a job working for MTS before deciding to attend Teacher’s College. She was hard working, dedicated, extremely organized, and known for her beautiful penmanship. It was after graduation that she took a job teaching in Mather MB. It was here that she met the love of her life, Vernon Vincent. They were married in 1967, and went on to have two children, son Darren, and daughter Denine. Hazel retired from teaching and devoted her time to raising her family.
In 1989, the move was made from Mather, MB, to Cartwright, MB. Here she worked with Vernon running Vincent’s Insurance. When the time came that the business was sold, she continued to work at the Cartwright Health Centre till she retired. After Vernon retired, they made the move to Hazel’s home town of Morden.
Over the years, family and friends brought great joy to Hazel. She spent many hours planning and preparing for events. Everything from birthdays, anniversaries, reunions, card parties, tea parties, dances, and even movie nights. Events such as bonspiels, were one of her favourites. She loved curling whether it was playing or watching.
Dancing was also a favourite past time, especially if there was 50’s music or Elvis Presley playing. Hazel had an impact on all those she encountered. She was known for her warmth, kindness, generosity, and loving spirit. She had strong values, and an appreciation for fun, which showed in all that she did. Her positive energy and vibrant light will be missed by many.
A service to celebrate Hazel’s life will be held on Tuesday, January 14, 2025 at 11am at the St. Paul’s United Church in Morden, MB.
