Helen Ann, daughter of Frank and Mary (Muffenbier) Voeller was born on June 9, 1940, at Rugby, North Dakota. She grew up in Pierce County, attending school at Berwick, graduating from Berwick High School. She continued her education at the NDSSS in Wahpeton and received her degree as a Licensed Practical Nurse.
Helen was united in marriage to Jacob “Jake” Kuntz on June 3, 1961, at St. Joseph Catholic Church where they remained active members their entire lives. They established their home in Devils Lake where they lived, worked, and raised their family.
Helen dedicated several years of her nursing career to Mercy Hospital, working in all areas of patient care. Along with being a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother, her first priority, she also worked in the Deli and Bakery Departments at Leever’s County Market for many years. In later years, Helen attended Lake Region Junior College, pursuing courses in business.
Helen made every effort to attend all her children and grandchildren’s school activities and sporting events. She went to football, hockey, basketball, and baseball games. She was the greatest fan, always cheering on the team. Her passion was hockey. She and Jake have been season ticket holders for UND Hockey for over 30 years. Summers were spent outdoors in her garden or tending flowers. Tent camping with six kids was always an adventure, but so many wonderful memories were made. For the past 4 years, Helen and Jake have spent time at their Stoneridge Campsite.
Helen was an excellent cook and the aroma of gingerbread boys, icebox cookies and Special K Bars brought everyone to the kitchen. She had many holiday treats that will be missed. She loved making quilts for family and friends.
Helen will be so very missed, but always remembered with love by family and friends.
