Helen Grace Kehler Friesen (nee Peters)
1944 – 2022
Grace Friesen, 78 of Grunthal, MB formerly of Rosenfeld passed away peacefully on Friday June 10, 2022 at Menno Home for the Aged.
Born Helen Grace Peters on March 14, 1944 in Winkler to John and Elizabeth Peters, she lived in Chortitz until the age of seven when the family moved to Roseau River where Grace spent the rest of her childhood. She was baptized on the confession of her faith in Jesus in June of 1963 at the Spencer Bergthaler Church near Grunthal. Grace met Abraham Kehler and they were married on May 24, 1964 and were blessed with one son after twelve years of marriage. Grace and Abe were married for 29 years until Abe’s passing on September 3, 1993. She met Cornelius Friesen in 1996 and they were married on June 22, 1997. They spent 21 years together until Cornie’s passing in 2018.
Grace was predeceased by her husband, Abe Kehler, her second husband, Cornie Friesen, her parents, John and Elizabeth, her sister, Ruth Nickel, her sister-in-law, Sarah Peters and a stepdaughter-in-law, Barb Friesen. She leaves to mourn her passing her son, Wesley (Eva) Kehler and their children, Emily, Raya and Joshua as well as four brothers, Edward, Harold (Martha), Abe (Mathilda), Dave (Helen), three sisters, Marge (Garry), Mary Anne (Ike) and Shirley (Albert), brother-in-law, John (Mary) Nickel, stepbrother, Abe (Betty Ann) Dueck, four stepsons, Bob (Carol), Ron (Elaine), Vern (Val), Curt (Krista), two stepdaughters, Sandra (Stan) and Rose (Larry) and many grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Mom will always be remembered for her zest for life and the fierce love she showed us. We do not mourn as those who have no hope, as we know we will meet again. Until then, rest safely in the arms of your loving Savior.
