It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Helen May Daw (Alberts).
Helen a loving wife, mother and grandmother has peacefully passed away, at the age of 86, in the Carman Memorial Hospital.
Helen was predeceased by her husband Ed and son Carl, and is survived by children Laurel (James), Darlene (Raymond), Cheryl (Lawrence), Denise (Gerry) and his grandson (Carl’s son whom she and Ed raised) Jason (Jenn), as well as many other grandchildren and great grandchildren.
While born in Deloraine, MB on May 2, 1939, the best of her years truly began when she met Ed, and they began their life together. She was well known for her culinary and baking expertise, hardworking nature, and keeping a meticulously clean home. Dad spoke so often of how hard she worked with him peeling poplar and picking pinecones, always willing to do whatever it took to assist in providing for her family.
Over the last few years, I spent much time listening to music with mom and singing several of her favourite songs to and with her, even on the last day I sang, “Coat of Many Colours,” and although she didn’t sing along, I believe she heard it and took that with her in her heart.
Mom, although you will be deeply missed and we’re saddened that our time with you after dad’s passing was brief, we understand your need to be back together with “Daddy,” as you so lovingly and sweetly called him. Your 70 years together in marriage displayed a bond and love, incomprehensible to many.
The family would like to thank the entire staff at the Carman Memorial Hospital for the excellent care and compassion that they showed Helen during her stay.
Also, the family extends sincere gratitude to Doyle’s Funeral Home for the exceptional care and support you provided our family after the passing of both Ed and now Helen. Your kindness, professionalism, and willingness to handle every detail made an incredibly hard time just a little easier. We are truly grateful for everything you did to lessen the stress and guide us through the process with compassion.
As per Helen’s final wishes there will be no service and in lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation.
