(nee Enns)
March 10, 1932 - February 12, 2025
Mom was born to Peter K and Susanna Enns on March 10, 1932 in the village of Friedensruh. Being the 2nd oldest of 10 children, she ended up caring for many of her younger siblings. I remember her telling me about when her and dad were just married and living in Friedensruh for a short time. Grandma Enns would pack a small pail with clothes for mom’s youngest brother Ervin. He would come walking down the road to their house for mom to give him a bath. Apparently, mom was the only one who was allowed to give him a bath. Mom and dad were married on October 18, 1953. Mom was always a hard worker and everything was always very clean. She always loved music and sang in the church choir for many years. She loved to sew and embroidered many pillowcases. She liked to work outside in her garden and mow the lawn. Mom and dad had a dairy for many years until dad wasn’t well enough anymore. After dad passed away in February of 1991, she became very involved at MCC. She finished many projects that were brought in unfinished and enjoyed pricing items and putting them on the shelves. She worked there for 20 years until she couldn’t anymore. She also loved to serve at weddings and funerals at her church. Dementia became something she had to deal with and it was hard for her to give up her independence. She left her home on October 1, 2019 when she was taken to BTHC. She stayed there for 6 weeks until she went to her new home at Buhler on 2nd floor. This would be her home for the next 5 plus years. It took her a while to get used to it but she was quite content there for the last few years.
Mom was predeceased by her husband Peter, both parents, 5 brothers and 1 sister. She is survived by her 2 daughters; Hilda (George) Froese and Edna (Peter) Penner. 4 grandchildren; Charmaine (Steve) Kowalchuk, Jeff (Corianne) Froese, Chelsea (David) Owasi and Derek(Ashley)Penner; 6 great grand children; Gracie Kowalchuk, Parker Froese, Kade Froese, Shepard Owasi, Adaline Owasi and Jackson Penner. She is also survived by 3 sisters.
Mom will be dearly missed but we know that she was ready to go home to heaven to be with Jesus and dad, whom she longed to see.
Our sincere thankyou to the wonderful staff at Silver Lining whom she loved. Their care and kindness shown were exceptional. I loved it when they would send me videos of singing ‘Jesus Loves Me’ with mom before bedtime. The last one we got was on Saturday before she passed away and I will treasure it. Thank you to Dr. Lane and Karen Schaak for their in-home visits. Thank you to Art Wiebe for officiating, to the ladies who served the meal, to the pall bearers, to Vic and Linda for the special numbers at the funeral, to her Cottonwood Bay neighbors who faithfully watched out for her and often took her to church and cleaned her driveway, to Kiley Wilson and the staff at Wiebe Funeral Home and to all our friends and family for their prayers, support and acts of kindness during our time of mourning. May God bless you richly.
