Helena was predeceased by her loving husband Abraham, 7 children, 1 grandson, 2 brothers, and 5 sisters. She leaves to mourn her daughters Maria Dyck (Abraham) and Elisa Neufeld (Jake), and her sons John Fast (Susan), Pete Fast (Anna), Jake Fast (Susan), Abe Fast (Anna), Bill Fast (Anna) and Neil Fast (Helen), 26 grandchildren, 45 great grandchildren, and 2 great great grandchildren.
We read in Revelation 14:13, “Blessed are the dead who die in the Lord from now on.” “Yes,” says the Spirit, “they will rest from their labor.”
Helena was born in Mexico on October 29, 1932. Upon confession of her faith in Jesus Christ as her personal Savior, she was baptized by Bishop Isaak Dyck. She married Abraham Fast on June 30, 1951. Helena and Abraham shared 42 years, 8 months, and 16 days together, as Helena was predeceased by her husband 30 years ago
She loved sewing blankets to help the needy children in different countries and she loved to help poor people, always looking forward to Saturday coffee time. She also loved chickens. Lisa would often call her and tell her about her chickens and that always made her excited, and then she would tell us about it. She was fairly healthy until March 2, 2022 when she found out she had a blood clot in her leg, which she recovered from, and on June 30, 2023 another one was found, from which she never completely recovered. She was admitted to Boundary Trails Health Centre on July 22, 2024 because of feeling tired, weak, and having shortness of breath, and on October 11th they moved her into palliative care. She reached the age of 91 years, 11 months and 26 days.
