Henry Friesen
February 12, 1948 – July 8, 2025
Henry was born the youngest of eleven. He was raised on a farm in Blumstein MB, attended Garden Valley High School graduating in 1965. During these years Henry loved to play ball and was often seen on the pitcher’s mound. In 1970 he was Baptised in the Bergthaler Mennonite Church in Winkler. From 1966 – 1975 he was co-owner of Friesen Implements in Morden. In 1970 he was very proud to say, he passed his single engine pilots license and loved the thrill of flying. From 1975 he tried his hand at selling real estate in the Morden area. In 1977 he started and operated Friesen Insurance in Winkler, until 2000 when he sold the business.
On February 9, 1974 he married Dell and together they raised their two daughters Kerri and Courtney. Once Kerri and Courtney were old enough Henry would be found either teaching them and their friends how to water ski, or coaching their ball teams, encouraging them to downhill ski or snowboard, or passing a puck or ring on the ice. Henry also enjoyed camping with family and friends.
He took pride in supporting various local organizations by purchasing uniforms for kid’s hockey and baseball teams.
Henry enjoyed travelling and during his 52 of years of marriage he travelled right across Canada and the USA. Several winter holidays were spent in The D.R., Mexico and after retirement Pharr Texas was their preferred destination. He loved to golf, curl, play cards and spend time with his family and friends. Later in life he enjoyed being around his grandchildren.
Henry leaves behind his loving wife Dell of 52 years, his two precious daughters, Kerri and Courtney and their families.
Two brothers, Will (Irmgard), George (Leah), and one sister, Susan (Ed), and one sister-in-law Anne (Murray) and many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
Henry was pre-deceased by his parents Peter and Helena, five brothers, two sisters three sisters-in-laws; and two brother-in-laws.
Thank you to the kind caring staff at Boundary Trails Health Centre. Henry is now in a wonderful place, and we are all grateful for the many years we were able to spend with him.
