Herman Ramon Klassen
1952 ~ 2023
It is with sorrow that we announce the passing of Herman Ramon Klassen, aged 70 years, 11 months, and 11 days, on December 7, 2023. He is eternally with our Lord and Savior.
Herman was born December 26, 1952, to parents Herman and Anna Klassen in Swift Colony, Chihuahua, Mexico, where he grew up. At age 19 he publicly confessed his faith in Christ and was baptized in the Rhineland Church in Burwalde, Mexico, by Bishop Ben Remple. Herman served the Lord for his entire life.
On July 4, 1971, he married his loving and faithful wife, Margaret (nee Neufeld) Klassen, in the Rhineland church. In his early marriage he worked in a printery, making song books and bibles which his wife would glue and sew together at home to make their living. In 1978 they moved to Altona, where he used his former work experience in his job at DW Friesens.
In 1982 the family permanently moved to Canada. Herman worked in agriculture and farming in southern Ontario. In 1989 they moved to Manitoba, where he worked as a welder at Farm King until 2013, when he retired early due to health complications.
Special memories of Herman include his love for his children, especially his grandchildren; charcoal barbecuing; and in his last years, baking cookies with his wife, Margaret (his favorites were jam-jams)
Herman died in Boundary Trails hospital in Winkler on December 7, 2023, after a long struggle with his health. He was with family who loved him, and is now in heaven with his Lord and Savior.
Herman was predeceased by his parents, two sons in infancy, and one grandson in infancy.
Left to grieve are his family, including his wife of 52 years, Margaret Klassen, his son Pete (married to Lidia) Klassen of Hochfeld, Margaret (married to Cornie) Reimer of Winkler, Ani (married to Andrew) Bates of France, Justine (married to Jake) Heinrichs of Plum Coulee, and Susi (married to Matt) Teichroeb of Roseau River, his 14 grandchildren and 8 greatgrandchildren.
Special thanks to Palliative Care, the doctors and nurses of Boundary Trails hospital, staff at Wiebe funeral home, and Reverend Art Wiebe. We would like to thank friends and family for their prayers.
We sorrow not as those who have no hope but fully believe that Herman has gone to be with his Lord and Savior to enjoy the beauty of heaven forevermore. Donations may be made to Palliative Care.
