HILDA SUKKAU

Our beautiful, kind mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and great great grandmother, Hilda Sukkau, aged 95, passed away peacefully at her home on Monday, December 9th, 2024.
She was born on a farm near Rosenfeld on July 6th 1929 to David and Maria Penner. She grew up and went to school in the village of Gnadenthal. In 1950, she married Harry Gordon Sukkau from Arnaud, in the Winkler Mennonite Brethren Church. They moved to Winkler in 1977 where Hilda worked as a nurse’s aid for 5 years. In 1982 they purchased Honeycomb Health Foods Store in Winkler. This was where she flourished as she helped, educated, and cared for many people.
She is predeceased by her beloved husband Harry, her grandson Travis Sukkau, her brothers David Penner and Ben Penner, and sisters Susie Friesen, Alma Dyck, and Mary Driedger.
She is survived by her brother Leonard Penner and sister Ella Sawatsky. Also, her loving children, Virginia Thiessen (Dan), Carl Sukkau (Joyce), Orlando Sukkau (Grace), David Sukkau (Connie), Anna Hoath (Dan), Ruth Sukkau, and Alisa Kroeker (Ken).
Hilda’s legacy lives on in her family, her 22 grandchildren, 39 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild.
Hilda was the heart of her family, a woman who loved the Lord, and filled her home with warmth, grace, love and laughter. Her memory will be cherished forever by all who knew her.
We rejoice with her as she has reached her heavenly home.
