On October 18, 2022, Ina Boeve, a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend was called home to our Lord and Saviour at the age of seventy-five, after suffering from cancer for a few months.
She leaves behind her dear husband of fifty years Dick, and their seven children, Cheryl Borst (Anton), Jud (Betty), Karla Kuizenga (Rob), Linds (Maria), Sid (Caroline), Craig (Jessy), and Darlene Dykstra (Shawn) and thirty-two grandchildren, Dean (Sheela), Michael (Janique), Derrick (Lisa), Cody (Reighlyn), Jesse (Natalie), Ariena, Myron, Jaclyn and Annika Borst; Kent (Brittney), Luke (Nadia van Rhee), Jenna, Drew and Dustin Boeve; Emily, Rose, Abby and Thomas Kuizenga; Brooke, Rowan, Rhiannon and Damon Boeve; Camryn, Mya and Jaxon Boeve; Trayton, Liam, Cohen and Stacy Boeve; Shaelynn, Levi and Logan Dykstra and eleven great-grandchildren Emmett and Morgen Borst, Richard, Miranda and Alayah Borst; Maverik and Axel Borst; Colson and Merritt Borst; and Austin and Trey Boeve. Ina also leaves behind her siblings Ricki Scheper, Dorothy Visscher, Wayne (Venus) Meijer, and Marianne (John) Hulst and her sisters-in-law Stein Zondervan, Florence Boeve, Mary Boeve, Patsy Douma. She was predeceased by her parents Lefert and Margje Meijer and her in-laws Derk and Lutina Boeve and her precious granddaughter Jeanette Borst and several in-laws Willem Scheper, Hank Visscher, Gerrit Boeve (at age 5), Bert Zondervan, George Boeve, Rudy Boeve, Bart Douma, Luke Boeve and those that died in infancy.
Mom (Ina) was born on September 6, 1947, in Enschede the Netherlands. She lived four and a half years in Holland. In 1952 she immigrated to Homewood, MB, Canada with her parents and little sister Ricki. She grew up on an acreage near Carman where, together with her siblings, they built many forts in the bush and helped Grandpa Meijer herd the straying sheep back into the pasture. Mom attended Boyne school and graduated from Carman Collegiate in 1965. Mom had a great love for sports especially competing in track and field events. Mom was an active member of 4-H and did a lot of sewing with her sisters…making their own clothing including later their own wedding dresses! After high school Mom had various secretarial jobs. One of Mom’s unforgettable experiences in life was the year she spent in Europe with her dear friend Susie Vandersluis. In November 1971 Mom became engaged to Dick Boeve and they were married on April 4, 1972. Mom and Dad were blessed with seven children. They raised their family on an acreage six miles north of Carman while together running their business Dick’s Heating. Mom enjoyed bookwork, sewing, crocheting, gardening, and yard work for many years. Mom was an active member of Women’s Bible Study, Ladies Aid Committee and enjoyed volunteering for the DCS library committee and some outdoor recess supervision at DCS. Mom was very involved in the lives of her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She enjoyed celebrating their achievements and loved and supported them through the joys and trials in life. It was evident to us all that Mom served her Lord and Saviour faithfully.
In their retirement Mom and Dad enjoyed many road trips. A few years ago, Mom and Dad moved to 245 2nd Street SW where they lived together until September 30, 2022, the day Mom was admitted to Carman Memorial Hospital. As family we are deeply thankful for the palliative care Mom received from the staff there. She kept her strength and sense of humour to the end and often used that to even help her family through her journey home. In many ways Mom was the glue that held the family together. Mom was relieved of her suffering and entered her eternal home this past week Tuesday. We praise our Heavenly Father for his love and faithfulness.
Funeral service will be held on Saturday, October 22, 2022 at 10:00 a.m. at the Canadian Reformed Church of Carman East. Interment will be held in the Greenwood Cemetery, Carman. At Dicks’ request please no fragrances.
