July 23, 1929 - February 25, 2025
Jacob Neufeld, at the age of 95, went to be with his Saviour Jesus Christ on February 25th, at 12:40 pm.
Dad was born in Cuauhtemoc, Mexico, to David and Gertruda Neufeld on July 23rd, 1929. He was baptized upon the confession of his faith in 1956.
Dad was predeceased by his wife Maria earlier this month, his parents, four brothers, four sisters, six brothers-in-law, two sisters-in-law as well as his first grandchild, Melissa, in 1980.
He is survived by, his children: Frank, Trudy, Susan (Cornie), Mary (Scott), Agatha, Jake, Helen (Neil), Pete (Diane), Eva (Henry), Henry (Jennifer), 30 grandchildren and 32 great-grandchildren.
Dad and Mom grew up in Mexico in the village of Blumenhoff Campo #103, with Mom on the north side and Dad on the south. Dad and Mom were married on July 8th, 1956, and 4 years later they had their first son. They had six more children, before making the trip to Ontario in 1971, and had two more children before moving to Manitoba in 1975. There they bought a six-acre property in the village of Blumenort and had their last child in 1976.
This is where they settled and called home for the next twenty-six years.
In 2001, Mom and Dad sold the farm to their son Henry and moved to Altona.
Over the years, Dad enjoyed tinkering in his garage, gardening, cooking, mowing the lawn, taking drives in the country and riding his bicycle around town even into his eighties! Mom and Dad often went for coffee with friends or spent their evenings playing games and puzzling. He loved the Lord and His Word; so many times we would find him reading his Bible at the kitchen table! He spent many evenings listening to Mr. John Neufeld and Dr. McGee on the radio.
In 2018, due to Mom’s health, they moved to Winkler and in 2019 they purchased a home with their daughter Trudy who became their caregiver. As Mom’s physical needs increased, she was moved to Salem, and in the fall Dad joined her and they were once again neighbours, only now they were across the hall from each other where Mom was on the south side and Dad on the north!
A big thank you to the many nurses and healthcare aids on Cottonwood who took such good care of our Dad! They had so many good things to say about him! He was their Amigo and they were his Amigas!
We shared many I love you’s with our Dad, and most times he would respond with, “I love you more!” We will miss our Dad, but we know that he is in such a beautiful place! No more pain, no more struggling to breath and no more tears, just peace with his Saviour in heaven!
Dad’s favourite goodbye was always, God be with you, until we meet again!
...and so, ’til we meet again, Dad! Jacob Neufeld
