She received her formal education in Langdon, North Dakota. After giving her heart to the Lord, she was baptized into the Church of God in Christ Mennonite on May 1, 1960, by Minister Clifford Mastre. She was faithful to these vows to the end, and left us with assurances that she was ready to meet God.
Her working years were filled with a variety of jobs including several grocery stores, a bakery, and teaching school in Oregon and Pennsylvania. Her last job was spent working in medical records at First Care Health Center for many years. She loved people and made many friends and acquaintances throughout her life. Her nieces and nephews were important to her, which resulted in several memorable trips, including one taken to Michigan for her nephew Brian's wedding. Her dry sense of humor and quick wit often had us laughing. She loved to share funny quotes and stories with us.
In February, 2019, she moved into Lutheran Sunset Home in Grafton, North Dakota and resided there until the time of her passing. She continued to make new friends while in residence. We, as a family, would like to thank the nursing home staff for the excellent care she received from them. She was artistic and this showed especially in the beautiful doilies she created, often designing her own patterns as she crocheted them.
She is survived by one brother, Larry and Marina Toews Pisek, North Dakota; two sisters, Norma Reimer Pincher Creek, Alberta, and Linda and Howard Toews, Altona, Manitoba; one sister-in-law, Charis Toews, Ithaca, Michigan; numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, four brothers Lorne Toews, Eugene Toews, James Toews, and Burton Toews; two sisters-in-law; one brother-in-law; and one niece.
